Some Scoop on the “Deadwood” Films April 19, 2007 10:35 am

Fans of Deadwood may recall that HBO and series creator David Milch (currently producing new another series for HBO titled John from Cincinnati) declared after the last season of Deadwood aired that there would be additional film(s) to conclude the saga.

Well, don’t expect a Deadwood return until at least 2008.

SyFy Portal is reporting through one of their sources that CBS is ready to give a full season 2 renewal to the freshman drama Jericho, despite the show’s struggles in the Nielsen ratings. (more…)

CBS has chosen its next location for the next cycle of Survivor (its 15th), China. This marks only the second time that the show’s setting was not an island (6th–Amazon).

The network has not yet announced when or where filming will take place.

CBS and Fox share the weekly crown, with CBS coming on top among households and viewers and Fox among adults 18-49. Though ABC was the only network to show improvement vs. the same frame last year.

The competition is no match for CBS, as the network wins every half-hour of the evening. ABC gets solid results from two recap specials for Ugly Betty and Grey’s Anatomy and a decent launch for new the new series Notes from the Underbelly. (more…)

Despite having aired only two of its slated 10 first season episodes, Showtime has given an early (very early) renewal of its just launched period piece The Tudors.

The early renewal is a major vote of confidence for the series, which premiered to the tune of 869,000 viewers on April 1. The second episode dipped to 464,000 viewers, but the network has said when repeats are factored in, the show recoups much of its lost audience.

The season three premiere of Little People, Big World posted all-time series highs in its new Monday night time slot for TLC.

The one-hour premiere (two back-to-back episodes) averaged 3 million viewers, up an amazing 76% over last year’s season premiere of 1.7 million viewers.

Emmy winning actor Tom Selleck is in discussions to join NBC’s Las Vegas as the leading actor.

He would play the new owner of the Montecito Resort & Casino, a spot created to fill in for the recent departure of the show’s original leading-man James Caan.

Coming up on its season finale, NBC gave the freshman series Friday Night Lights a vote of approval, ordering an additional six scripts of the critically praised, but viewer deprived series.
