ABC’s Lost led the way at the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films’ 35th annual Saturn Awards nominations. The ABC series received 11 total nominations including best network TV series, TV actor (Matthew Fox) and TV actress (Evangeline Lilly).
NBC’s Heroes followed with the second most nominations, grabbing six (including best network TV series) and SCI FI’s Battlestar Galactica and Fox’s Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles each with four nominations.
In the film category, it was WB’s The Dark Knight leading the field, also with 11 nominations, including for bBest Adventure/Thriller Film, actor (Christian Bale), actress (Maggie Gyllenhaal) and supporting actor (Aaaron Eckhart and Heath Ledger).

Academy President Sid Ganis will be accompanied by actor Forest Whitaker to announce the nominations for the 81st Academy Awards on Thursday, January 22nd at 8:30am ET/5:30am PT.
10 of the 24 award categories will be unveiled at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills. Nominations information for all categories will be distributed simultaneously to news media in attendance and via the internet on the official Academy Awards Web site at www.oscar.com.

Academy Reverses Decision on The Dark Knight Score December 9, 2008 7:42 pm

The Academy has reversed its prior decision (click here to read the original story) that made the score to The Dark Knight ineligible after reviewing information submitted by the affected parties. The Academy’s Music Branch Executive Committe concluded that two, Zimmer and Howard, were responsible for the score.
The score was originally disqualified because five names were listed as composers on the cue sheet.

This morning, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences unveiled the nominations for the 60th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. Leading the pack was HBO’s John Adams, which received 23 nominations, followed by NBC’s 30 Rock with 17, AMC’s Mad Men with 16 and ABC’s Pushing Daisies with 12. Thanks to the Gold Derby, we now have access to the 10 finalists in the acting categories (the Academy doesn’t release the lists). Today the top 10 for Best Drama Actor, Best Comedy Actress and Best Drama Supporting Actor for the 60th Primetime Emmy Awards were announced. The respective groups will be narrowed down and the finalists will be revealed by the Television Academy at 5:40am on Thursday, July 17th. Finalists in the Drama and Comedy category for the 60th Primetime Emmy Awards have been announced. The 10 drama and 10 comedy series (viewable after the jump) will be narrowed down to five for each group. The 34th Annual Saturn Awards were announced last night. Walt Disney’s Enchanted and ABC’s Lost were the big winner’s at the awards show, with Enchanted winning three awards and Lost four.

After a decade away, the MTV Video Music Awards are returning to Los Angeles. According to EW, the 2008 ceremony will take place on Sunday, September 7th at the Paramount Pictures lot in Hollywood. Host and artist announcements are expected to be announced over the coming days and weeks. Over the past 10 years, the award show has played in Miami, Las Vegas and others.

MTV has announced a first set of presenters for the upcoming 2008 MTV Movie Awards. The network says that Lindsay Lohan, Anne Hathaway, Jack Black, Steve Carell, Robert Downey Jr., Seth Rogen, Megan Fox, Jennifer Hudson, Mark Wahlberg, James Franco, Rumer Willis, Brendan Fraser and Danny McBride are the first wave of presenters for the awards show, which will be broadcast Live on Sunday, June 1st, beginning at 8pm ET.

NBC’s 30 Rock, Showtime’s Dexter and AMC’s Mad Men were among the winners of the 2007 Peabody Awards, which were announced on Wednesday. Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report and Bravo’s Project Runaway were also awarded, marking the first time a reality series has taken home a Peabody. Click here for the full list.
