Comic-Con 2008: Sam Raimi Confirms “Evil Dead 4” July 29, 2008 4:44 pm

While at a panel promoting his horror film Drag Me To Hell, director Sam Raimi announced another Evil Dead 4:
“I love working with Bruce Campbell… He’s super willing to do anything to make it right. He’s a very funny guy, but mostly he’s got this quality where he will physically do anything to get the shot done right, so I would love to work with Bruce again because I’d love to test those limits.
I’d love to make another Evil Dead picture. And actually that’s in the wheelhouse. I’d like to work on it with my brother Ivan [Raimi] when he comes up next week.“

Comic-Con 2008: The CW’s “Supernatural” Panel July 29, 2008 4:32 pm

Stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki were joined by creator Erick Kripke and writers on the panel for The CW’s Supernatural. Here are some highlights courtesy TV Squad:
- SPOILERS: After some time in Hell, Dean returns from the dead. The beginning of the season will deal with how he got out of Hell and what has happened to Sam in the four months that he was gone.
- Meanwhile Sam is more and more accepting his role as demon killer. He believes more than ever that his rightful place in the world is for him to get rid of demons and ghosts, just like his father.
- The two brothers will continue to hold secrets from each other. They will work more independently from each other, and they’re relationship will grow a bit darker.
- Asked about the effect of the writers strike on the series, Kripke said it actually made it a meaner, leaner and more concise show. However, there were some storylines that were not covered during the season.
- Someone asked if Kripke still has a plan to run the show for only five seasons, he replied yes, saying that he wanted to avoid jumping the shark adding he doesn’t want the show to ever slip into mediocrity.
- The season three DVD will be released on September 2nd on both DVD and Blu-ray Hi-Def.
- There may be a return by the Ghostfacers this season, and there is talk of giving them their own online miniseries. During the panel, Ed and Hary made a cameo apperance.

The panel for The CW’s Smallville. The panel was moderated by Joseph Loeb and featured stars Allison Mack, Justin Hartley, showrunners Kelly Souders, Brian Peterson, Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer. New stars Sam Witmer (Doomsday) and Cassiday Freeman (Tess) were also present. Here are some highlights courtesy TV Squad:
- The “No Tights” part of the “No Tights. No Flights” rule that was established at the beginning of the series will be upheld, implying that while Clark won’t be donning the tights, he may start flying during the 8th season.
- Swimmer said that Clark will be starting to think about his destiny in the world and begin working on a secret identity.
- Witmer’s character, Justin Bloom, will start out as an extremely nice paramedic who then starts having blackouts with dire consequences. The blackouts are connected to the apperance of the villain Doomsday.
- Freeman will play Tes, the new girl at Lexcorp, now that Luthor is gone. No one will know why she was picked to run the company.
- WIth Hartley now a regular cast member, there will be more exploration of his Green Arrow and Oliver Queen characters.
- While not returning this season, they said that the door is always open for Michael Rosenbaum (Lex Luthor) and Sam Jones III (Pete Ross) to return.
- The premiere will feature an appearance by the Justice League.
- DC Comics writer Geoff Johns will be writing an episode that will introduce the Legion of Super-Heroes later in the season. On that front, Swimmer says that here will be more use of DC characters and mythology this season.
- Mack may direct an episode of Smallville this season.

The panel for ABC’s Pushing Daisies featuredthe entire cast, who were joined by creator Bryan Fuller and executive producer Barry Sonnenfeld. Here are some highlights courtesy TV Squad.
- The characters will be visiting a new set of locations in season two, including a nunnery, a bee factory and a traveling circus.
- A couple new characters will be joining the cast. One will be David Arquette, who will plaly Ned’s best friend and another a pig named Pigby.
- Viewers will get to meet Emerson’s mother and we’ll see flashbacks of a young Olive, Emerson, Ned and Chuck.
- The aunts will be getting out of the house more often and participating in some of the murder mysteries.
- There will be an arc about Emerson’s daughter.
- While praising the cast as well as the writing staff, Barry said that new talent has been added for season two, including a former writer for Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
- Kristen will sing in the first episode, with more musical numbers to follow during the season.
- Fuller said he idea for Pushing Daisies came from his work on Dead LIke Me. He wanted to do something sweet and refreshing.

J.J. Abrams, Alex Kurtzman, Bryan Burke, Jeff Pinkner, Roberto Orci, Anna Torv, Josh Jackson and John Noble were in attendance for Fox’s Fringe panel. Here are some highlights courtesy TV Squad:
- The presentation began with a screening of the show’s trailer.
- Abrams told the audience that the goal of Fringe is to create an series that doesn’t have the complex mythology of Lost or Alias. Shows like The Twilight Zone and The X-Files inspired him to write Fringe.
- You can hope into the series at any point and not worry about getting lost in what’s happening.
- There won’t be a continous storyline, though there will be “something” there.
- Someone asked if the pilot for the show was purposely leaked or marketing to drum up interest. Abrams was very serious in saying that the leak was definitely not intentional.
- Abrams said yes to a possible comic book.
- Asked about how much of the show he has “fleshed out”, Abrams said that he has what he calls an “internal ending” to the show (just an overall direction, not necessarily a way a show will end). Nor does he have a set amount of years he’d like to see the show run.
- Pinkner said he found feedback from online groups helpful and necessary.

While at Comic-Con, ShockTillYouDrop.com got the opportunity to talk with writer/director David Goyer, and Goyer provided the site with an update on his The Invisible Man project, his sequel to H.G. Wells novel and 1933 film.
“I’m writing it right now,” Goyer told STYD. “I got Universal to hire some conceptual artists for me so they’re working tandem with me writing. The main guy is Jamie Rama, Aaron Sims did some pieces too. Rama is a great conceptual artist who worked on Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, he’s one of the primary conceptual artists who worked on the Bat suits.”
Goyer added that the film would pick up months after the events of Wells’ novel (it’s a period piece) and that his take is loaded with historical figures, including WIlliam Melville, head of Scotland Yard and founder of MI6: “He instituted fingerprinting and was friends with Harry Houdini. He’s were the ‘M’ comes from in MI6. In my story, he’s the one who captures the Invisible Man in my story and says, ‘Listen, we want to turn you into a secret agent and send you into Imperial Russia.'”

Comic-Con 2008: SCI FI’s “Eureka” Panel July 28, 2008 2:31 pm

The panel for the SCI FI Channel show Eureka took place on Saturday night. Here are some highlights courtesy TV Squad.
- Two new characters will be introduced this season. One will be Eva Thorne (Frances Fisher) who is known as “The Fixer”. The other characters will be Jack’s sister, named Lexxie.
- Colin Ferguson (who plays Jack Carter) said that Lexxie will turn Jack, and the town of Eureka, upside down. She does this by becoming friendly with everyone in the town, which took Jack much longer to do: “It’s like reliving my childhood,” Ferguson said.
- He added that it’s great to have some new blood in the series and that the actress playing her sister is very much like his real sister.
- The Artifact mythology has been wrapped up and the introduction of Eva Thorne will start a new arc.
- Sara will be Twittering online about the goings-on around the house and Eureka. If you write she’ll respond back.
- A new site, Eureka Unscripted, has been created to give viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the writers putting the episodes together.
- A podcast will be released one to two days after the last original episode airs.
- Beverly, the psychologist, will not be returning this season.
- Jim Taggert (played by Matt Frewer) will, however. He’ll have a recurring role during the second half of the season.
- Both Sally and Joe will be directing episodes of the series this season.
- Fargo and Henry may be getting love interests.
- More of Deputy Jo Lupo’s background will be revealed this season. Also, she will be the focus of one episode.

The Friday the 13th panel which included Brad Fuller, Andrew Form, Amanda Righetti, Jared Padalecki and Derek Mears. Here are some highlights of the panel courtesy ShockTillYouDrop.
- The teaser poster was revealed (pictured right–click to enlarge).
Teaser footage was shown. Here’s the summary:
Features Righetti and boyfriend lurking through a dilapidated cabin where they find a bed. On the bed post reads “Jason” – further along they find a hole. The boyfriend peeks in and a machete suddenly tears through the floorboard beneath his feet!
The boyfriend is jerked down into a hole and Righetti goes nuts, screaming her head off. This scene descends into a hellish montage of violence.
Back to the panel highlights:
- Someone asked if they’d ever see Freddy get back together with Jason for a sequel to Freddy vs. Jason. They said they’ve love to do something with Wes Craven.
- Asked if there are plans to extend the remake into a trilogy, Fuller said that the ending they have seems finite and that the movie will stand on its own.
- Derek Mears was asked if he’d want to play Jason again after this movie, responding with an obvious “yes”.
- Gotta love the Bay haters: Will there be explosians because “Michael Bay is directing it?” (jeers from the crowd).
- Asked about other horror properties, Fuller said he’d like to do another Friday the 13th and he mentioned their upcoming remake of The Birds and said that was “pretty much it” but that they’re always looking for “great horror properties to remake”.
- Mentioned they’re trying to get a deal to remake Nightmare on Elm Street but “they haven’t made the deal yet.”
- Fuller confirmed that the movie explores Jason’s childhood.
- The goal is for the movie to clock in at 90 minutes.
- No cameos from earlier Friday the 13th movies because, according to Fuller, they didn’t want to take audiences out of the movie.

At the panel for Fox’s Dollhouse, Joss Whedon, Eliza Dushku and Tahmoh Penikett were in attendance. Here are some highlights courtesy TV Squad and ComingSoon.net:
- Joss moderated the panel.
- It was revealed that Paul Smith (Tahmoh Penikett) will have a difficult time tracking down Echo (Dushku) in the show, as every time he gets closer, she’s someonen else.
- Joss was asked about what he thought about Save our Show campaigns already being started before the series has even aired: Joss said that while he appreciated the fandom, he was afraid of the message it might send to the general public, and he didn’t want Dollhouse to be perceived as a show that is already in trouble and appeals only to a niche audience.
- Eliza says she’s thrilled to be working with Joss again and called him her “career brazier”.
- Joss said he likes to think of Dollhouse as having the feel of the movie Collaterai in the way the city is protrayed.
- Asked about the re-vamped pilot, Joss said reaffirmed that it was his idea and that it will give the “real” first episode more resonance. He said there’s no reason to worry and that another fiasco like Firefly (where episodes were broadcast out of order) is not going to happen.
- The new pilot is aimed at better setting up some of the back story to the Dollhouse organization as well as its cast of characters.
- 13 episodes have been greenlit, and there are plans to have them accompanied by webisodes.
Comic-Con 2008: ABC’s “Lost” Panel July 27, 2008 6:10 pm

The panel for ABC’s Lost was made up of just the show’s executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse, though later on a special guest (Matthew Fox) showed up. Here are some highlights from the panel courtesy TV Squad:
- The panel started off with a few videos, including an ad for the DVDs.
- After more videos, the two plugged liveautographs.com, a site where you can buy autographed memorabilia from the show, with all hte money going to charity.
- They then went into a Q&A session. Asked if the island moved when the hatch blew and the sky turned purple, Lindelof responded: “No., but something did happen.”
- Will we see Jin and Locke again?: Jin will still be on the show in some form, we haven’t seen the last of the two characters.
- Will we see an Rousseau flashback?: We will see her “story” (they don’t want to refer to these as flashbacks any longer).
- Shooting starts back up in three weeks if a strike doesn’t get in the way. All episodes will be back-to-back, uninterrupted.
- We’ll see Vincent, Walt’s dog, again. He’ll make it to the end of the show.
- Will Kate see Sawyer again? Yes.
- Will we see what happens to the five people in the zodiac boat? Yes. They also revealed an interesting note on this: On the set, the actors call the other castaways from Flight 815, the ones in the background, “socks”.
- How did Daniel know about the secondary protocol? It was written in his notebook.
- The notebook will be featured heavily in the fifth season.
- How old his Richard Alpert? Cuse: “Quite old”. Someone asked how many toes he has, to which they responded that we’ll learn a lot more about his history and see him barefoot in the near future.
The last question was about the name chosen for Locke in the casket (Jeremy Bentham) and how it was related to Panopticon. Before answering a question about if it was meant to show that the people on the island were being watched, a Dharma Inititive test subject, an actor, ran on-stage saying he videotapped what he saw and wanted to share it. All an act, they eventually showed the tape. Here’s what was on it (summary courtesy /Film):
The brief footage featured everybody’s favorite Asian Dharma doctor, this time introducing himself as Dr. Marvin Candle. Instead of the usual scratched up black-and-white recording, the video was being shot digitally with Marvin sitting on a couch. He briefly starts off with his normal spiel, but quickly gives up and states there’s no point in playing games anymore. He admits his name is Pierre Chang, and tells the people watching that they should be receiving his message roughly thirty years in the future. His message is simple: “It’s imperative that the Dharma Initiative be reconstituted.”

/Film put up a report an extensive report on the panel for NBC’s Heroes. Here are the highlights, mostly centering on the show’s premiere, which was screened for the audience:
- Tim Kring joined the entire cast of onstage and proceeded to pull out a burned DVD with the handwritten text “Heroes Volume III (Episode One)” written on it. To much applause, the season three premiere was screened.
Here’s a summary of what was shown [SPOILERS]:
The episode starts off four year into the future, with a scarred Peter running for his very life. He enters a building and finds Claire waiting for him, holding a gun to his head. She tries to shoot him, but he slows down time and evades the bullet by simply walking out of its path. Then he grabs her gun and jumps through time to the present. Now we’re back to where season two ended, with Nathan being shot by an unknown assailant. As it turns out, “Future Peter” is that unknown assailant.
Nathan gets taken to the hospital, but the wounds are too severe and he dies… for about five minutes. His pale lifeless body jumps up on the hospital bed. The experience of dying and coming back to life makes him rethink his purpose, and instead of continuing what he started by announcing to the world about people like him, he comes to the realization that they exist to serve God’s will.
Later on, Angela Petrelli confronts “Future Peter” about changing the future for the worse.
Meanwhile, Claire finds herself attacked by Sylar, who captures her and splits her head open. We then see Sylar examining Claire’s exposed brain. A mildly concious Claire asks “Are you gonna eat it?” “Am I gonna eat it? That’s disgusting, Claire.” Soon afterward, Sylar locates the necessary part of Claire’s mind with his powers. He looks down and a wound on his stomach starts to heal. Claire is confused, wondering why he doesn’t kill her. “You’re not like the others, Claire. You can’t die. And now, neither can I.”
On the other side of the world, Hiro is the head of his father’s company and has all the money anyone could ever ask for, yet still feels left without a purpose. Before he can dwell on it for too long though, he receives a video tape of his late father explaining to him he must protect a world-altering secret that’s hidden within a safe in the office, and must not ever open it. Unwilling to listen to reason, Hiro opens the safe anyway, much to Ando’s chagrin. Inside is another tape of his father, this time yelling at Hiro for opening the safe. He then explains that the safe contains half of a formula that must never get in the wrong hands.
Moments later, the paper vanishes from Hiro’s hand. He stops time as fast as he can, and notices this lengthy red blur traveling through the office. He follows it all the way through the building until it connects to a blond girl, who he soon finds out isn’t actually frozen in time. His power has no effect on her. In order to get away, she punches him and speeds out of the building. Needing to get the formula back, Hiro travels to the future and sees “Future Hiro” battling Ando, who demands he give back the formula. Unwilling to do so, “Future Ando” blasts “Furure Hiro” with red bolts of electricity. Hiro quickly travels back to the present.
The last character subplot involves Mohinder and Maya. Maya gets upset that Mohinder wants to leave, and when her powers start to take effect, Mohinder realizes how people get their powers: through the adrenal gland. He then figures out how to replicate the abilities in other people, later deciding to inject himself with it, causing him to lose conciousness. As he wakes up, two muggers try to rob him. He grab one of their guns and bends it in half, and then throws one of the guys halfway across the street. The other mugger takes off without a second thought, while Mohinder stands there amazed at what he just did.

Comic-Con 2008: J.J. Abrams on “Cloverfield” Sequel (“It’s not a literal sequel”) and the “Star Trek” Movie July 27, 2008 2:00 am

During the Comic-Con panel for the Fox television series Fringe, an audience member asked J.J. Abrams if there were any updates on a Cloverfield sequel, to which Abrams responded with the following nugget according to /Film:
“There’s something we’re playing with now that may or may not happen. There’s an idea we have that plays with… it’s not a literal sequel.“
Unfortunately, as is almost always the case with Abrams who is very tight-lipped on his projects, that’s all he would let slip.
Abrams and crew were also asked about the upcoming Star Trek movie and though nothing major was revealed, he did indicate that the reason no footage was shown from the film was because the trailer sequences don’t have the special effects added in yet, and they are heavily covered in SFX. He went on to say that had the movie’s original release date of December 25, 2008 still been a go, they would have hustled to get those sequences ready for release.
TrekMovie.com also debunked the recent footage report that was posted on AICN. The site, however, could not debunk the rumor that J.J. and crew had wanted to bring some footage from the film to show the crowd at the Fringe panel, but Fox nixed the idea because they didn’t want it to upstage their Fringe presentation.
Comic-Con 2008: Disney/Pixar Panel on “Bolt” July 27, 2008 12:30 am

At their panel for Disney/Pixar, Pixar showed off their next animated film, Bolt. Here are the highlights courtesy ComingSoon.net:
- Bolt is about: a Hollywood dog from an action TV series that actually believes his theatrical feats are real superpowers. However, he gets a harsh dose of reality when he thinks his little girl owner is kidnapped by villains and he ventures out of Hollywood.
Here’s a summary of the first scene screened:
The first scene was from Bolt’s TV show where he’s a dog with superpowers. When his owner’s father is kidnapped, Bolt and the girl (voiced by Miley Cyrus) go on a rescue mission. They’re soon attacked by a goon who quickly discovers you don’t mess with Bolt. A car traps them in an alley and as the goon races down to ram them, Bolt runs forward, lowers his head, and rams the car sending it flying in the air. He follows it with a cute scratch of his collar and some panting. Bolt and the girl are then attacked by three helicopters which spit out a dozen goons on motorcycles. The girl pulls out a scooter from her backpack, gives Bolt a rope, and tells him to run. A spectacular motorcycle chase then ensues. When Bolt is finally surrounded by dozens of bad guys in Humvees, the girl tells Bolt, “Speak.” He braces his paws, rears back, and lets out a sonic bark that blows them all away like a hurricane.
And here’s a final summary of the rest of the scenes screened:
We were treated to more scenes including one showing the other acting cats harassing Bolt (who thinks he still has superpowers, yet can’t get out of his trailer). John Travolta voices Bolt and does a pretty good job based on the little I saw. The cats were absolutely hilarious, but nothing compared to the hilarious hamster in a ball who aids Bolt. He’s a HUGE fan of Bolt and gleefully helps him escape from the dog catcher, then bust a friendly cat out of the pound. He gives an inspiring speech to Bolt about how he’s a symbol to millions, how he proves that no matter who you are, you can do the impossible…”as long as you’re AWESOME!!!!!” (OK, you’ll have to see it yourself.)
ComingSoon.net notes that after these scenes, the crowd roared with applause, indicating that the presentation went over very nicely and Disney/Pixar should be in for yet another solid box office outing this November.
Comic-Con 2008: Disney/Pixar Panel for “Up” (Teaser Released) July 27, 2008 12:25 am

Disney has released a sneak preview of the teaser trailer for Pixar’s Up. The full teaser will be included in the upcoming DVD release of Wall-E. You can watch the teaser at this link or embedded after the jump. Here are some highlight’s from the panel for both Up and Bolt. First up, observations from the panel on Up courtesy /Film:
- Up is touted as from the “creators on Monsters Inc, Co-creator of Toy Story, and Co-creator of Wall-E”. Pixar takes us “to a lost world where anything can happen and will happen.”
- Director Peter Doctor promises that “In Up, we’re taking you to a world you’ve never seen before, a place I didn’t know existed before.”
- The setting will include fantastically weird mountains of South America. They showed the entire sequence from the film, though not all of it was finished.
- The hero of the film is a 78-year-old man named Carl Fredricksen, who walks around hunched over with a cane.
- Here’s his story: When he was a kid he met a girl named Ellie, who grew up in small midwestern town. The two fell in love and eventually got married. Her dream was always to explore the world and visit paradise falls, but as usually happens, life got in the way. They were never able to make good on their promise, and Ellie eventually passed away. Now Carl is a widower living alone in his small home. Developers are threatening to move him into an old folks home.
- It was also confirmed that Michael Giacchino, the composer of The Incredibles, Lost and Star Trek, is writing the score.
Here’s a summary of the clip they were shown:
The clip we saw began as the people from the old folks home arrive, but Carl escapes by launching tons of brightly colored balloons from his roof, lifting the whole thing into the air. “So long boys!” A little girl in a high rise apartment looks on with excitement as the balloons go by her window. People in the street are in disbelief over what they see. The house floats by a window washer who is also shocked. And a flock of birds decide to join in on the journey. Carl looks out at the ground below and puts out sails which help him guide the house. He looks over at a photo of Ellie and kisses it. He’s finally beginning that journey they planned so many years ago.
Carl sits down comfortably in his chair and closes his eyes to rest. The house glides above the clouds. And all of a sudden, there is a knock at the door. Carl is in disbelief. He walks over to the door and looks out of the peep hole and sees nothing. But he still opens the door. And that is where the clip ended.
It was then explained that a 9-year-old wilderness explorer named Russell had stowaway on the house in an attempt to earn the final badge (assisting the elderly) he needs to become a senior wilderness explorer. The house eventually makes it to South America where Russell and Carl must slide to the ground using a garden hose. We were then shown more test footage of Carl and Russell dragging the house like a float in the Macy’s Day parade, with the floating home breaking through the leaves and branches high up in the jungle sky. Russel is tired and has to go to the bath room. He gets distracted and unhooks himself from the garden hose harness which results in Carl being dragged unwillingly into the air.

Director McG was joined by the cast (except for Bale who was in Japan promoting The Dark Knight) of Terminator Salvation at the panel for the film. Here are some highlights courtesy ComingSoon.net:
- McG mentioned the film is only 50% complete and that no CGI has been added.
- He told the audience that he has listened to the fans and even went to see James Cameron and Arnold Schwarzenegger before making the movie.
- Contrary to early reports, they aren’t targeting a PG-13 rating. McG said that they’re just going to make the movie they want to make, and if the final rating is R or PG-13, they are okay with whatever.
- The movie takes place in the near future-2018.
- Hinted at the T-100 model being a part of the mythology of Terminator (Arnold cameo?).
- He announced that a full trailer will be attached to this November’s Quantum of Solace.
- McG also revealed that Jonathan Nolan (The Dark Knight) was “the lead writer of the film” adding “I don’t know how the WGA rules work but honest to goodness, we did the heaviest lifting with Jonah.”
- A new poster from the film has been released (pictured right–click to enlarge).
Here’s a summary of the footage that was screened (via /Film):
The footage opens with a descending overhead shot of John Connor (Christian Bale), barely emerging from the scene of a helicopter crash. “Are there any survivors?” a cackling radio voice asks? “One,” Bale says quietly, then again, shouting, for emphasis. He walks off into the distance, as we begin to hear Bale’s dialogue in the film.
The rest of the trailer takes place in various places in 2018, when Earth has become a bombed out, post-apocalyptic hellscape after the rise of Skynet. Amongst other scenes, we see a face to face confrontation between Connor and Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), in which Bale threateningly declares, “If I let you down, you’ll kill everyone in this room,” and then later, “You tried killing my mother. You killed my father. You will not kill me.”
A young Kyle Reese (Anton Yelchin) delivers the “Come with me if you want to live” line and we see several obscured shots of T-600s, hideous combinations of metal and rubbery flesh. A topless (but covered by her hands) Blair Williams, played by Moon Bloodgood, shares a poignant look with Wright. At one point in the trailer, Connor and Reese share a meaningful exchange. Various action shots, full of shooting, running, and massive explosions are concluded by a shot of Bale screaming at the close sight of a metal cyborg hand.

I Am Legend director Francis Lawrence told ShockTillYouDrop at the San Diego Comic-Con that the rumor of a prequel to the hit Will Smith starring film is true: “Yes, yes, absolutely, we’re actually trying to crack that. We’re trying to figure out some ideas for it, but yes, it would be a prequel,” Lawrence said. Lawrence also confirmed that Will Smith is interested in doing the prequel.

Universal Pictures’ panel for the upcoming comedy Land of the Lost, starring Will Ferrell and Anna Friel, featured the first teaser for the film. Here’s the summary of what was shown courtesy ComingSoon.net:
Will Ferrell sits on a stool beneath a spotlight in an old, darkened room strumming on a banjo and slowly singing the original theme. He makes it about halfway through and then looks up saying, “I always forget this part. Does anyone remember the words?” Words flash across the screen: MARSHALL, WILL, HOLLY, ROUTINE EXPEDITION. The scene comes back to Will, trying again to sing but having to mumble through some of the words. “LAND OF THE LOST, 2009” appears and the teaser ends.
At that point, and to applause, director Brad Silberling joined stars Anna Friel, Jorma Taccone and Danny McBride and original creators Sid and Marty Krofft on the stage. Here are some highlights from the panel:
- Right off the bat, Silberling promised the things that would definitely make an appearance in the film: Pylons and crystals (“In new and wonderous ways,” Enik, Cha-Ka, and dinosaours Dopey and Grumpy).
- He noted that Uncle Jack was sequel territory.
- As a special surprise, Will Ferrell made a video appearance. Though pre-taped, the joker was set up that he was answering questions live from another hotel in San Diego and had bad audio connection.
They ended the panel showing a brief bit of footage, which they said would be officially available within the month:

The scene cuts to a dinosaur walking through a prehistoric jungle. In the foreground, Will Ferrell looks directly into the camera with his back to the creature.

The theme comes up and it cuts to the “Land of the Lost, 2009” text.

The panel for Fox’s Bones featured David Boreanaz, Tamara Taylor, John Francis Daley, Michaela Conlin and creators Hart Hanson and Barry Josephson. Here are some highlights courtesy TV Squad:
- The audience was treated to a preview for an upcoming fourth season episode, which TV Squad note was a takeoff on Cheaters and looked good.
- Josephson was happy that they were able to take the show out of its usual setting, placing Bones and Booth in London for the two-hour season premiere (airing September 3rd).
- Michaela said that she may have a relationship with an ex-girlfriend in the upcoming season.
- Daley also said that his character may find love and will have to work harder after some of the events of last season’s finale.
- Love will also be in the air for Taylor’s character, who according to the actress, will have a tryst with someone Angela has had a relationship with.
- Also, Hanson said that both Booth and Bones will end up in bed together. Naked.
- Some information about how the show came to be was discussed, including that originally Breanna was going to work for a number of different law enforcement people–one of which being Booth.
- Boreanaz said he was impressed and moved when Emily Deschanel, who plays Dr. Temperance ‘Bones’ Brennan, tried out for the role and was the only one who stood up to Booth during the read. Josephson said: “When we finished the pilot we knew how good the chemistry was (between Bones and Booth).”

The biggest news to come out of the panel for NBC’s Heroes was that the season two DVD release of the show will contain several unaired episodes which were shot but apparently cut due to the writers strike. Comic-Con 2008: Fox’s “American Dad” and “Family Guy” Panels July 26, 2008 4:35 pm

The panels for the animated Fox comedies American Dad and Family Guy took place back-to-back. Very little was revealed at the American Dad panel, with really the only noteworthy thing being that there was a table reading by the voice actors of the show, so we’ll just jump into the Family Guy panel. Here are the highlights courtesy TV Squad.
- The panel for Family Guy featured Seth MacFarlane, Seth Green and the producers and writers of both Family Guy and The Cleveland Show.
- Upcoming episodes will feature: A new dog in the Griffin house that is always happy, which will force Brian away; Stewie and Brian going back in time to 1939 Poland and bringing Mort Goldman along and a takeoff on the Sliders premise with Stewie and Brian traveling to different parallel universes.
- They confirmed that this season will see a sequel to the Star Wars parody Blue Harvest. It will be a parody of The Empire Strikes Back and be called “Something Something Something Dark Side”.
- Still no premiere date for The Cleveland Show.
- MacFarlane said that they are “putting a helluva lot of work on the show.” and that “You will not be disappointed”.
- James Woods will be returning to Family Guy sometime this season.
- Asked about why Stewie is no longer trying to kill his mother, MacFarlane said that they try to get back to it, but “It’s hard to do this one note thing.” He added that, despite being a cartoon, the character of Stewie needed to expand.
