The twice-canceled CBS drama Jericho isn’t dead yet. Executive producer Jon Turteltaub tells iFMagazine that there is a theatrical movie based on the short-lived TV series in development.
…the big news is Turteltaub’s company is currently hatching a potential feature film version of the TV show.
“We’re developing a feature for JERICHO,” says Turteltaub. “It would not require you to have seen the TV show, but it get into life after an event like this on a national scale. It would be the bigger, full on American version of what’s going on beyond the town in Jericho.”
Asked about whether the cast would return, Turteltaub exclaimed “Oh yeah!”. If the project got the green light, Turteltaub expects an adequate budget: “Anything would be a huge budget compared to what we were dealing with,” he adds. “If we had $40 million dollars to make a movie with, that’s 20 times more than we did before.”
The CW is currently airing Jericho repeats on Sunday night’s. Catch the show all over again at 7:00pm.

Jericho fans, it’s happening again. According to The Hollywood Reporter, CBS has dropped the cancellation bomb on Jericho once again. Producers on the show have been told that the show is ending its broadcast run. The season finale will air on Tuesday, with an ending that helps give fans closure. CBS has opted not to offer Pamela Reed a contract, though the actress is scheduled to appear in at least one of the already produced episodes. Should Jericho survive past the initial seven-episode abbreviated second season, it may do so without Reed’s character (Mrs. Gail Green).

With the show having been uncanceled, the first phase of increasing audience begins this Summer. CBS has announced that they will be running repeats of the first season on Friday nights.

CBS has officially renewed Jericho for a second season, the network announced today. At least seven episodes will air, with a potential for more, all based on how well the show does when it returns.

Perhaps no canceled show over the past weeks has garnered so much disappointment and response from its fan base as Jericho. The outpouring of support has not been lost on CBS management, with CBS President of entertainment issuing a statement to the fans of the show.

SyFy Portal is reporting through one of their sources that CBS is ready to give a full season 2 renewal to the freshman drama Jericho, despite the show’s struggles in the Nielsen ratings. (more…)
