The other comedy, an untitled multi-camera comedy from writer/executive producer Tad Quill (Scrubs), revolves around two forty-something friends who embark on very different lives — one with a new baby and one with a newly empty nest.

emilyblunt-0114092oth Century Fox is in negotiations with Emily Blunt and Jason Segal to join Jack Black in the studio’s Rob Letterman-directed reimagining of the classic Jonathan Swift tale Gulliver’s Travels.  The project was written by Forgetting Sarah Marshall director Nicholas Stoller.

Blunt was recently offered the role of Black Widow in Iron Man 2, but she may not be able to star in the film because Fox holds an option on the actress that the studio may invoke to see that she takes part in Gulliver’s Travels.  Her reps are trying to work out scheduling conflicts so she can play both roles and they are more optimistic that she could do both projects.

Lionsgate has released the final poster for Tyler Perry’s Madea Goes to Jail, which hits theaters on February 20th. Click to enlarge. I’ve also got two new images from the film, as well as two new TV spots. Check those out after the jump.

Synopsis
After a high-speed freeway chase puts Madea (Tyler Perry) in front of the judge, her reprieve is short-lived as anger management issues get the best of her and land her in jail. A gleeful Joe (Tyler Perry) couldn’t be happier at Madea’s misfortune. But Madea’s eccentric family members the Browns (David and Tamala Mann) rally behind her, lending their special “country” brand of support. Meanwhile, Assistant District Attorney Joshua Hardaway (Derek Luke) is on the fast track to career success. But Hardaway lands a case too personal to handle – defending young prostitute and former drug addict Candace Washington (Keisha Knight Pulliam)—and asks his fiancé and fellow ADA Linda Holmes (Ion Overman) to fill in on his behalf. When Candace ends up in jail, Madea befriends the young woman, protecting her in a “motherly” way as only Madea can. (more…)

Alex Proyas Updates Dracula Year Zero January 29, 2009 3:56 pm

alexproyas-012909Director Alex Proyas (The Knowing) has provided an update to his proposed Bram Stroker origin story Dracula Year Zero.

Both are still in active development so either could be Proyas’ next project. “I’m working on a bunch of different things and the two projects I’m excited about are an adaptation of John Christopher’s The Tripod stories that I’ve co-written with Stuart Hazeldine, who is one of our writers on ‘Knowing’, and the Dracula project,” the Australian filmmaker told us. “Both are very exciting projects but at this stage, we’re still in the budgeting process for both, so I can’t really tell you much more than that.”

“I’m not a fan of remakes or sequels — I haven’t done any and I’m not really that excited by them usually,” Proyas said when asked about his decision to make a movie based on a character whose had an extensive life in film. “In the case of Dracula, the reason I got excited about the project is I read a particular script that puts the whole legend on its head in every conceivable way and comes out with something that is both a kind of an ode to Bram Stoker’s original Dracula, in that it’s kind of a prequel to that, but it also redefines the character to such an extent that I found it quite exciting, so that is very much a kind of reinvention of that character and it’s why I got excited about it.”
