Nintendo has released their hardware sales figures for the April 1, 2008 to December 31, 2008 period as well as life-to-date totals. The biggest bit of news from the report is that the Nintendo DS handheld is inching closer to 100 million sales worldwide.
The handheld has sold 25.67 million units in Japan, 31.93 million units in the Americas and 38.62 million in other territories for a total of 96.22 million units sold life-to-date.
Nintendo’s Wii is also doing incredibly well for the company, selling through 44.96 million units life-to-date (7.80 million in Japan, 20.40 million in the Americas and 16.76 million in other territories).
100 million DS sales, thats crazy – didn’t think it was that much. I have been reading a review of the new DSi, should be out in 2009 in the UK.
