Nintendo continues to lead the pack in the software and hardware sales charts for the week ending February 7th, with the company selling 234,094 Wii’s and 154,944 DS’s. The next closest system was Microsoft’s Xbox 360 which sold 92,062 units. Rounding out the rest of the list was Sony’s PSP at #4 (61,176), Sony’s PS3 at #5 (56,518) and Sony’s PS2 at #6 (28,838).
On the software side, Wii Fit was the best selling game for the Nintendo Wii followed by Wii Play and Mario Kart Wii. The 360 was paced by Left 4 Dead, Skate 2 and Call of Duty: World of War. The best selling title on the PS3 was Skate 2, Call of Duty: World at War and Afro Samurai.

Killzone 2 Will Have In-Game Soundtrack During Online Play February 18, 2009 8:03 pm

During a recent Q&A session, QA Manager Seb Downie of Killzone 2, revealed that the upcoming PlayStation 3 game will support in-game soundtrack during online play:
“Only for multiplayer via the XMB. In Single player the music is designed to match the action so it would be hard for us to mix up your favourite boyband.”
Killzone 2 releases on PlayStation 3 next week, February 27, 2009.

Those purchasing Capcom’s Collector’s Edition of Resident Evil 5 on the PlayStation 3 will be getting a nice visual bonus. The special bonus disc, already announced, will differ from the one included in the 360 package. On PS3, it will be a bonus Blu-ray Disc (1080p resolution), while on the 360 it’ll be a bonus DVD (standard 480p resolution).

Shawn Baxter of Capcom, wrote the following note on Playstation Blog announcing that the demo for Resident Evil 5 will be going live today on the PSN. Here’s an excerpt:
Hey everyone, I’m Shawn Baxter (Snow) from Capcom-Unity. Our amazing Resident Evil 5 Demo goes live today on PSN, so I thought I’d tease you a bit with some of the cool things to expect, whether you’re an old fan or new to the series. One of the first things I noticed is how good the game looks. It’s hard to get by the beauty RE5 has to offer. Better still, you get to play through two beautiful stages in the demo. Namco has announced that Playstation 3 gamers who purchase the newly released Namco Arcade to play in Home, will be able to play the classic shooter Xevious (in HD), Galaga, Pac-Man, Digdug and Dragon Spirit.
