The release of DreamWorks/Paramount’s Box office hit Transformers became the years top-selling DVD, selling 4.5 million units in its first day of release, and 8.3 million in its first week.
The HD DVD version sold 100,000 units in its first day, and 190,000 through one week to become the best-selling day one high definition title on either format (Blu-ray or HD DVD).

After only two aired episodes, and weak ratings for each telecast, CBS has officially canceled the oddball singing/dancing drama Viva Laughlin.

When ABC picked up the science fiction series Masters of Science Fiction, they only committed to airing four of the six produced episodes. The series premiered with weak ratings, and with the exception of a one week increase, remained low, so the network saw no legitimate reason to pick up the final two episodes.
Viewers in Canada though won’t be missing out on those last two episodes. SPACE has picked up the series and will begin airing it, all six episodes, this coming November 4th.

In an interview with Shock Till You Drop, producer David Kirschner revealed that he and his producing partner Corey Siniega are working on another Chucky movie, which will be a remake of the original Child’s Play.

Back nine orders have been given to two new shows this season, ABC’s drama Private Practice and CBS’s comedy The Big Bang Theory. CBS also gave a back nine order to its third year drama The Unit.

The CW has canceled the low-rated new program Online Nation. They will be replacing the show with repeats of freshman comedy Aliens in America.
This marks the first official cancellation of the season. Fox already pulled Nashville from their fall lineup, but they haven’t canceled the show yet, deciding instead to return it to their lineup sometime in October (related article here).
