After only two aired episodes, and weak ratings for each telecast, CBS has officially canceled the oddball singing/dancing drama Viva Laughlin.
The series debuted in a special window this past Thursday out of a new episode of CSI. It drew only 8.39 million viewers (a 5.5/9 household rating/share and a 2.3/6 adults 18-49 rating/share) with significant audience loss at the half-hour.
Ratings remained low last night (based on fast nationals), when the second episode dipped further downward, drawing only 6.77 million viewers (a loss of 1.32 million/19%), a 4.5/7 household rating/share (-18%) and only a 1.2/2 adults 18-49 rating/share (-48%).
CBS will replace the series with returning reality The Amazing Race beginning on November 4th. A repeat of CSI will occupy the slot next week.
Viva Laughlin becomes the third cancellation of the fall season, but the first in the category of scripted drama. The other two cancellations were for The CW’s Online Nation and Fox’s Nashville.
