CBS and Fox split the evening with CBS taking the win among households and viewers, while Fox won the night among adults 18-49 thanks to a two-hour edition of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?.

Elsewhere on the evening, the first of two episodes of Chuck opened NBC at 8:00 p.m. with weaker ratings than its last newly aired episode (which occurred on a Monday), but the show did manage to show some growth by the second episode at 10:00.

Also on NBC, Celebrity Apprentice was again the nights most-watched program among adults 18-49, helping the network secure second place in the demo for the evening.

ABC has announced that they will be airing a special enhanced version of the season three finale of Lost next Wednesday. The special, enhanced with on-screen text and story details about the show, will air from 9:00-11:00 p.m.

CBS today announced that the long-running game show The Price is Right, now hosted by Drew Carey, will air a six specials in primetime on Friday nights starting in February.

Fox takes care of business on Wednesday night courtesy the nights most-watched program American Idol and a successful series premiere for Moment of Truth, which held onto an impressive 94% of its lead-in’s A18-49 audience.

The off-network cable rights to fan favorite drama series Jericho from CBS Television have been picked up by the SCI FI Channel.   The network gets the rights to the first two seasons of the show.

Some very sad news in the world of acting today, Academy Award nominated actor Heath Ledger (Brokeback Mountain) was found dead today in a Manhattan apartment. He was 28 years of age.

NBC’s successful reality duo of American Gladiators and Deal or No Deal, the nights most-watched program among adults 18-49 and total audience, propelled the network to a Monday night victory.

Over on Fox, ‘The Sarah Connor Chronicles’ took another step downward, but still performed well among the key A18-49 demo and grew respectably from its lead-in.

The critically praised drama series Brotherhood is returning for a third season.  Showtime has ordered eight more episodes of the series, which stars Jason Isaacs, Jason Clarke and Annabeth Gish.

Oliver Stone, known for prior films on presidents John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon, will now turn his attention to current president George W. Bush.  The director has announced intentions to direct a biopic (titled Bush) with Josh Brolin attached to play the president.

USA Network’s Nashville Star is moving to NBC.  The network has announced that they’ve picked up the show for a sixth season, and will launch it in the summer alongside the second season premiere of American Gladiators.

Stronger than average showing from Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? powers Fox to a first place finish on the evening among adults 18-49.

CBS, however, took the night among households and viewers thanks to strong performances from the nights most-watched program CSI (which was a repeat) and Without a Trace.
