The release of DreamWorks/Paramount’s Box office hit Transformers became the years top-selling DVD, selling 4.5 million units in its first day of release, and 8.3 million in its first week.

The HD DVD version sold 100,000 units in its first day, and 190,000 through one week to become the best-selling day one high definition title on either format (Blu-ray or HD DVD).

After only two aired episodes, and weak ratings for each telecast, CBS has officially canceled the oddball singing/dancing drama Viva Laughlin.

Fox takes the evening among households, viewers and adults 18-49 thanks to a strong NFL Overrun and a powerful outing from the final game of the MLB American League Championship Series.

ABC, CBS and NBC remain competitive though in overall viewership, though CBS suffered a good deal in the demo, with a weak performance from episode two of their new series Viva Laughlin.

Final Two Unaired Episodes of “Masters of Science Fiction” to Air on SPACE (Canada) October 21, 2007 11:19 pm

When ABC picked up the science fiction series Masters of Science Fiction, they only committed to airing four of the six produced episodes.  The series premiered with weak ratings, and with the exception of a one week increase, remained low, so the network saw no legitimate reason to pick up the final two episodes.

Viewers in Canada though won’t be missing out on those last two episodes.  SPACE has picked up the series and will begin airing it, all six episodes, this coming November 4th.

When Fox pulled its new reality series Nashville (related article here) the network was quick to note that the show wasn’t canceled, and would return “sometime in October”. Well, scratch that. Fox has officially canceled the series, replacing it with a second run airing of Don’t Forget the Lyrics!.

In an interview with Shock Till You Drop, producer David Kirschner revealed that he and his producing partner Corey Siniega are working on another Chucky movie, which will be a remake of the original Child’s Play.

CBS takes Friday with improved performances from its entire lineup. ABC and NBC are competitive in second and third among households and viewers, with NBC taking second among adults 18-49.

CBS and ABC share an evening win, with CBS taking the night among households and viewers courtesy the nights most-watched show (CSI) and ABC winning among adults 18-49 thanks to the nights most-watched show in the demo (Grey’s Anatomy).

The series premiere of Viva Laughlin failed to reach an acceptable audience, earning a last place finish in the hour among adults 18-49.

Back nine orders have been given to two new shows this season, ABC’s drama Private Practice and CBS’s comedy The Big Bang Theory. CBS also gave a back nine order to its third year drama The Unit.

CBS takes the evening thanks to the nights most-watched program (Criminal Minds) and a solid outing from the 10:00 p.m. time period leader CSI: NY.

ABC managed to take first place for the evening among adults 18-49, with the evenings highest rated show in that demo (Private Practice).

Pushing Daisies didn’t drop off much in its second week, while Bionic Woman continues to slide. The new series is off a significant 42% among adults 18-49 since its premiere.

The CW has canceled the low-rated new program Online Nation.  They will be replacing the show with repeats of freshman comedy Aliens in America.

This marks the first official cancellation of the season. Fox already pulled Nashville from their fall lineup, but they haven’t canceled the show yet, deciding instead to return it to their lineup sometime in October (related article here).

CBS won the evening among households and viewers thanks to an impressive performance from the night’s most-watched and highest-rated show NCIS. Fox however managed to take first place on the evening among adults 18-49 thanks to an improved performance from the networks telecast of game four of the ALCS.

ABC remained a competitive third place with consistent outings from their entire lineup, anchored by the Dancing With the Stars results show.

And The CW finally got some good news, with greatly improved performances for both Beauty and the Geek and Reaper.
