A casting notice for the lead role in Kenneth Branagh’s Thor has gone out, and according to the explanation for the role, provided by Coming Attractions, it’s fair to say many will not like it:
Male MUST BE MID-LATE 20′S and SIX FEET OR TALLER. LEAD.
Physically powerful, very handsome, occasionally egotistical, petulant, and wild. A natural warrior with a quick charming wit who must be genuinely and severely humbled before becoming the compassionate, mature hero of our film.
The physical and personal traits sound to be right on, but I don’t like that they’re looking for such a young actor.
The start date is July and the filming will conclude by September.

Mickey Rourke Not in Iron Man 2? February 18, 2009 8:17 pm

A little bit of Mickey Rourke Iron Man and Wrestlemania news to report.
It looks like he will not, unfortunately, be in Iron Man 2. The actor was at last night’s Domenico Vacca show at Bryant Park and revealed that his role as a villain in Iron Man 2 is likely not going to happen: “Right now, we’re not doing Iron Man 2,” Rourke said. Disappointing. That’s the first word that comes to mind. Rourke was absolutely terrific in The Wrestler (and is hopefully a lock for that Oscar this Sunday) and would no doubt be amazing as a turn as a villain in Iron Man 2. In other, better news, wrestling fans will be happy to learn that his canceled appearance at the upcoming WrestleMania 25 event wasn’t so canceled after all:
“We’re gonna go in support. Vince McMahon, Roddy Piper, and Rick Flair have been such a part of the movie … So whatever support I can give back to all those people from WWE, I’m gonna do that.”

Killzone 2 releases on PlayStation 3 next week, February 27, 2009.

Executive producer J.D. Roth says the show will have the feel of an unscripted version of the Huxtable family from The Cosby Show:
“Here’s a dad with five kids, married to the same woman for more than 23 years, living in the same place where he grew up and going to church every Sunday,” Roth said. “He’s had his ups and downs, and it’s what makes him such a character you root for.”

AT&T is offering a refurbished 8GB iPhone 3G (black) for just $99. The provider is also offering the 16GB model in black or white for $199. That’s a savings of $100 on both models.
To qualify for the offer, you have to sign up for a two-year contract and get a warranty of “at least 90 days”.
It’s a good deal no doubt, but there’s still the issue, at least for me, of the exorbitant monthly cost. The most basic tier costs $70 + taxes and fees.
