A&E has announced that 1990’s rapper M.C. Hammer, his wife and five children will be the focus of a new 11-episode half-hour reality series set to premiere this year. The title of the program is, naturally, Hammertime.
Executive producer J.D. Roth says the show will have the feel of an unscripted version of the Huxtable family from The Cosby Show:
“Here’s a dad with five kids, married to the same woman for more than 23 years, living in the same place where he grew up and going to church every Sunday,” Roth said. “He’s had his ups and downs, and it’s what makes him such a character you root for.”
