Superhero Hype! has learned that Warner Bros. is planning to unveil the teaser to the upcoming Batman sequel The Dark Knight attached to some screenings of The Simpsons Movie, which opens on July 27 and perhaps even sooner.

While revealing their 2007/2008 original programming slate at the Television Critic’s Association, SCI FI revealed that they will premiere Battlestar Galactica ‘Mini-sodes’, which will air on television and then online.

Weekend Box Office — July 13-15, 2007 July 15, 2007 6:32 pm

Warner Bros.’s Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix remained strong through the weekend, adding $77.11 million from 4,285 theaters, pushing its domestic total to an impressive $139.72 million through five days of release.

In second place was last week’s number one film Transformers, which was able to buck the trend of 50%+ second weekends, dipping only 47.5%.

NBC and The CW share the top spot, with NBC taking households and viewers and The CW the top-rated network among adults 18-49 (for the third week in a row). Week two of the “Jericho in repeats” experiment failed on CBS, with the series pushing the network down to last place on the evening among adults 18-49 and fourth among viewers.

CBS and FOX split the winnings on Thursday night, with CBS taking households (just enough) and FOX taking viewers and adults 18-49. Good second outing for Don’t Forget the Lyrics!, making up for 5th Grader’s large decline. Big Brother 8 loses ground.

Warner Bros.’ Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix will no doubt dominate the weekend. The other major question is how well Transformers will hold up in its second week after a very impressive first week/weekend and continued strong week day performances.

The Lifetime original series Army Wives has been given an early 18 episode order for season 2.  The year’s #1 new cable drama among W18-49 and W25-54 (key groups for Lifetime) is the networks highest-rated series in their 23-year history.

Following up on a prior announcement that the producers of Smallville were searching for an actress to play the role of Supergirl, which will be introduced this coming season, we learn from People magazine that the role has been cast.

Canadian actress Laura Vandervoort will play the role of Supergirl and begins shooting alongside Tom Welling, Michael Rosenbaum and Aaron Ashmore next week in Vancouver, Canada.

Universal Studios today announced that filming is set for another direct-to-DVD presentation of their popular American Pie franchise. This will be the sixth chapter in the comedy series.

Principal photography on American Pie: Beta House began in Toronto on June 4, and the film will be released exclusively on DVD in time for the holiday season.

In a video at ShatnerVision (through LiveVideo), William Shatner revealed that his former Star Trek co-star Leonard Nimoy (Spock) has read the script for JJ Abrams new Star Trek movie and his character is in the film, but that Shatner’s character of Kirk is not.

Paramount (DreamWorks)’s Transformers rolled over the competition this weekend, raking in $70.5 million from 4,011 theaters, pushing its domestic total past the $150 million mark and breaking a few records along the way.

In second place was last week’s number one film Ratatouille which had a modest drop of less than 40%.
