Heroes: Going Postal, the NBC web series kicks off next Monday and NBC.com has released a trailer for the series which you can check out after the jump. The three-part series revolves around a new character, Echo DeMille.

Former ESPN colleagues Dan Patrick and Keith Olbermann are reuniting. NBC has announced that Patrick, who was a former ESPN anchor and radio personality, is joining Football Night in America this fall to co-host the program. “I’m delighted to be reunited with my tag team partner,” Olbermann said, and in an homage to a favorite SportsCenter catchphrase, “I can’t stop Dan Patrick from working with me again, I can only hope to contain him.”
In other NFL-related TV news, James Brown, Phil Simms and Cris Collinsworth were named as cohosts of Inside the NFL, which is moving to showtime after a long run on HBO.

Ricky Gervais reported over on his official site, that Steve Carell, who plays Michael Scott on NBC’s The Office has signed on with the show for an additional three years.
Had some great news today about the American version of The Office.
Steve Carell (now one of the most bankable film stars in the world) has just signed up for another three years with us. He is the hardest working man in Hollywood and the harder he works the better it is for me. I mean… well done Steve you are wonderful.

Shooting on the third season of Heroes is well underway, and several photos from the set of filming have found their way online. If you have read an early spoiler report from E! The University of Notre Dame and NBC Sports have signed a new five-year agreement which will keep Fighting Irish football games on NBC through 2015. Though terms were not disclosed, the previous five-year deal with Notre Dame cost NBC $45 million. With the new deal in place, it brings relationship between the network and college to 25 years, going back to 1991. Quite telling that NBC was so committed to renewing their deal, despite the fact that Notre Dame is coming off their worst record ever (3-9) in 2007. The full press release follows after the jump.
Tom Brokow to temp host Meet the Press through November June 23, 2008 3:41 am

Former NBC Nightly News anchor Tom Brokaw will temporarily take over moderating duties on the Sunday morning news program Meet the Press. Taking over the spot after the tragic early loss of the show’s host Tim Russert, who passed away at the age of 58 after suffering a massive heart attack.
“To have someone of Tom’s stature step up and dedicate himself to ensuring its ongoing success is not only a testament to his loyalty to Tim, but his enduring commitment to NBC News and our viewers,” said NBC News president Steve Capus in a statement.
Brokaw will host the show through the 2008 elections.

Like last year, I’ve decided to create a programming guide for the fall season. My 1st edition for Fall 2008 is online now. This year’s edition is a little less bloated than last year’s and I’ve done it in a different, more simple style. It also only has premiere dates for the NBC shows. That will of course be remedied once the other networks make their announcements. I also plan to add a few other things, such as synopses for the new shows, in future updates.

The Weinstein Co. is turning the much loved Jim Henson series Fraggle Rock into a live-action musical feature film, reports Variety. Cory Edwards, who directed the animated film Hoodwinked!, will helm the film and write the screen play. The Jim Henson Co. will produce and The Weinstein Co. will distribute. Fraggle Rock premiered on HBO in 1993 and ran for five seasons.

Get ready for more online content. NBC today announced that webisodes for The Office and Heroes would officially premiere on NBC.com starting this July. First up will be The Office in July. The webisodes will focus on Kevin’s gambling issues and how he plans to pay for his debts. The series will also feature Stanley, Oscar and Darryl. This is the second webisodes series for The Office (The Accountants premiered back in 2006).

Eric Stoltz (pictured right) is the latest addition to the cast of the SCI FI Battlestar Galactica prequel Caprica. The actor has been cast as Daniel Graystone, a wealthy computer engineer. In other SCI FI channel news, Frances Fisher has signed onto the drama/comedy Eureka for an eight episode run. The actress will play Samantha Thorne, aka “the fixer”. [Sci-Fi Wire]
What’s old is new again as Beverly Hills, 90210 alum Jennie Garth has been cast in the CW’s spinoff. The actress will reprise her role as Keylly Taylor from the original series and will play a guidance counselor at West Beverly Hills High, her alma mater. [THR]

Departures from TV shows seems to be more common than not these days. TV Guide’s Michale Ausiello is reporting that after five years, Law & Order: Special Victims star Diane Neal has turned in her resignation and is exiting the show after this season. An NBC source had the following to say: “Diane spent five years on SVU and was a tremendous addition to the SVU team. She is looking forward to new opportunities and she will be missed.”

Welcome back Heroes, but say goodbye to Heroes: Origins before it even begins. NBC has announced a return date for their hit sci-fi series for September 15th, with a special three-hour event. Things will get started at 8:00 with a clip show, and then followed by a two-hour Heroes film.

NBC today revealed their complete 52-week schedule for the 2008/2009 season, an extensive slate of programming that will take advantage of staggered launches in order to present a year-round commitment to original programming. New programming includes The Office Spinoff and Knight Rider and more, while returning shows include ER (its 15th and final season), Friday Night Lights, Lipstick Jungle, Medium, Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU. NBC today announced that the network will use the post Super Bowl slot this season to launch a spinoff series to the the hit comedy The Office. Immediately following NBC Sports’ Super Bowl XLIII coverage, the network will first present an original episode of The Office, followed by the debut of the new spinoff comedy. E! Online’s Kristin is reporting that the critically acclaimed, but ratings challenged NBC drama series Friday Night Lights is returning for a third season. Kristin is confident in the news she heard from an unnamed cast member at the Paley festival: “It’s happening. I’m not supposed to say anything. We’re not supposed to say anything. But it is happening. I want you to know.” She added that the rest of the castmembers were feeling “optimistic” and “hopeful” and “good” about a third-season pickup.

Christian Slater is close to coming to primetime. According to The Hollywood Reporter, NBC is close to handing out a series order to an untitled drama from writer-producer Jason Smilovic, which would star Christian Slater. It would be the actor’s first TV series.

The long-time NBC comedy Scrubs is switching networks. According to The Hollywood Reporter, ABC is in negotiations to pick up 18 episodes of the show from ABC Studios, which has produced the show for NBC since 2001.
