Fangoria has received confirmation from Univeral Pictures that The Wolfman has been moved out of its original release date (April 3, 2009) to November 6, 2009. The site had originally reported that the film was on the move a little under three weeks ago.

The trailer for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen will be released in February, so confirmed director Michael Bay on his message board. Bay says that they haven’t decided if the trailer will be released in movie theaters, or be attached to the Super Bowl (February 1st)
Hey everyone. Back from Egypt and Jordan – we had a wonderful shoot over there. I will miss the crew they were an amazing bunch of people and a lot of fun. I’m stuck in the edit room up to my eye balls – also finished producing Friday the 13th and The Unborn – coming out the after the new year. Our Trailer for Transformer you have been asking about – First there will be a teaser poster soon after the new year, and the teaser trailer will be out either in the theaters early Feb. or on the Superbowl. Cannot decide yet. I’m going to release some set stills on this site in a few weeks. I’ll keep you informed. Going back to do more selects now from my portable avid that I take home from work. It’s late, see you.

Kung Fu Panda co-director John Stevenson has been tapped to direct a big screen adaptation of Grant Morrison’s comic book miniseries We3 and producer Don Murphy confirmed to ShockTillYouDrop that the film will be R-rated and live-action:
“Even though the film is going to be live-action, we brought on the lead director of Kung Fu Panda [John Stevenson]. He’s attached to direct We3. We’re doing it as an R-rating. It’s not going to be cutesy. There’s killer rabbits and stuff. We’re in the process right now of trying to figure out where we’re going to make it.”
For those unfamiliar with the series, here’s the synopsis:
Collecting on of the most talked-about series of the year by superstar creators Grant Morrison (SEVEN SOLDIERS) and Frank Quitely (THE SANDMAN: ENDLESS NIGHTS), who provides a new cover, WE3 tells the unforgettable story of three innocent pets — a dog, a cat and a rabbit — who have been converted into deadly cyborgs by a sinister military weapons program.

Academy Reverses Decision on The Dark Knight Score December 9, 2008 7:42 pm

The Academy has reversed its prior decision (click here to read the original story) that made the score to The Dark Knight ineligible after reviewing information submitted by the affected parties. The Academy’s Music Branch Executive Committe concluded that two, Zimmer and Howard, were responsible for the score.
The score was originally disqualified because five names were listed as composers on the cue sheet.

Jurrasic Park producer Kathleen Kennedy was asked by ComingSoon.net about the status of a fourth film in the successful Jurassic Park franchise and she revealed that plans for the long-in-development sequel have fallen through:
“No… I don’t know. You know, when Crichton passed away, I sorta felt maybe that’s it. Maybe that’s a sign that we don’t mess with it.”
The three films–releaesed in 1993, 1997 and 2001, respectively–grossed a combined $1.9 billion in worldwide box office ($767,326,501 domestically and $1,134,784,425 overseas). The majority of that, however, came from the first film ($914.7 million). The second grossed $618.6 million and the third $368.8 million.

Producer Frank Marshall revealed to ComingSoon.net that since they now have access to the entire library of Robert Ludlum, the late-author’s novel The Parsifal Mosaic may be one of the potential sources of material for the next film:
Question: Would you want to do a straight adaptation from one of the novels?
Frank Marshall: Actually, there is. “The Parsifal Mosaic” is one that we like.
Marshall also said that Matt Damon hasn’t signed on yet, and in fact, he and the writer (George Nolfi) are the only two signed on.
Here’s some of the plot summary of The Parsifal Mosaic via Wikipedia:
Michael Havelock, (an anglicized version of Mikhail Havlíček), is an intelligence agent in the United States. At the beginning of the novel he believes he has just witnessed the execution of his partner and the love of his life, Jenna Karas (anglicized version of Jenna Karasova) along an isolated stretch of the Costa Brava. Jenna had been marked for execution because she had been proved to be a KGB double agent.

This is fairly interesting. /Film interviewed Academy Award-winning screenwriter Eric Roth about his latest film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and Roth revealed that he had actually completed a version of his Forrest Gump sequel, but he, Hanks and Zemeckis shelved the project due to 9/11:
“I turned in my version of the Forrest Gump sequel, or Part II, whatever you call it… It’s a continuation really — I want to start the movie literally two minutes after the end of the last one, with him on the bus bench waiting for his son to get home from school. But I turned in the script the night before 9/11. And we sat down, Tom [Hanks] and Bob [Zemeckis] and I, looked at each other and said, we don’t think this is relevant anymore. The world had changed. Now time has obviously passed, but maybe some things should just be one thing and left as they are.”
Author Winston Groom wrote a follow-up novel titled Gump and Co. that was released in 1995 and its content is quite intriguing (via /Film):
[The novel] follows Forrest as he stumbled through important US events in the 1980s and early 1990s. According to Wikipedia, Gump plays football for the New Orleans Saints, sells encyclopedias door-to-door, works on a pig farm, and helps develop the infamous New Coke. He accidentally crashes the Exxon Valdez, helps destroy the Berlin Wall, fights in Operation Desert Storm and meets many celebrities along the way including: Colonel Oliver North, the Ayatollah Khomeini, John Hinckley, Jim Bakker, Ivan Boesky, Ronald Reagan, Saddam Hussein, Bill and Hillary Clinton, and Tom Hanks.
Catherine Hardwicke Not Directing New Moon, Summit Searching for New Director December 8, 2008 1:22 am

Summit Entertainment has announced that Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke is leaving the franchise and will not be directing the sequel, New Moon (scheduled for release sometime between the end of 2009 and early 2010).
While the joint press release, read it in full after the jump, reveals that the decision was made due to timing issues with Hardwicke, Nikki Finke of DeadlineHollywoodDaily reports that Hardwicke was “difficult” and “irrational” during the making of the film, with one of her contacts saying:
“Summit didn’t like her. They’re saying the DP [director of photography] Elliot Davis is the one responsible for the film’s sumptuous visual look, that the editor Nancy Richardson had to save the film in post-production, and Summit thought Hardwicke’s [CAA] agent Beth Swofford was alternately ineffectual and hysterical.”
Well, that may have been all true, but I don’t see why they make the announcement now in the middle of the European press tour, a tour in which Hardwicke is–and will continue–participating in.

Rosario Dawson Returning for Sin City 2; Mickey Rourke Unsure December 8, 2008 1:10 am

IGN recently learned that Frank Miller has finished his script for Sin City 2 and plans to re-unite with Robert Rodriquez to shoo the film as early as April 2009, and now IESB has confirmed the start date with Rosario Dawson, who says she’s returning to reprise her role as Gail.
Meanwhile Mickey Rourke, who played Marv in the first film, didn’t seem all that interested in returning to the franchise when ComingSoon.net caught up with the actor at a press junket for Darren Aronofsky’s The Wrestler, a film in which Rouke is getting rave reviews:
“No, I’m not interested in that right now. That’s not a reality right now. It’s pissing in the wind,” Rourke admitted. “There’s different factions going different directions there. I don’t know. That’s three hours of make up and I’m claustrophobic, so I’m going to have to work something out.”
With a production budget of just $40 million, Sin City debuted in April 2005 and went on to gross $158.8 million worldwide ($74.1 million domestic and $84.7 million from foreign markets). Sin City 2 will be based on the mini-series A Dame to Kill For.

There has been a lot of speculation on the internet over the past several weeks pertaining to whether or not the next I Am Legend film would be a prequel or a sequel. At Comic-Con this past summer, director Francis Lawrence confirmed that they were working on a prequel, but then rumors started coming out about how it would actually be a sequel. The way I Am Legend, a sequel seemed highly unlikely, but now we finally can lay all the rumors to rest. During a press junket for Will Smith’s upcoming film Seven Pounds, Collider talked with Smith, who revealed that the film will be a prequel, and focus on the fall of the last cities: Manhattan and D.C.:
“We’re still trying to work through a couple of bumps in the story,” said Smith. “It’s essentially the fall of the last city – the last stand of Manhattan. The movie would be… within the body of the movie D.C. and then Manhattan would fall as the last city. It’s a really cool idea trying to figure it out… there’s a reason why we have to take a small band and we have to get into D.C. So we have to make our way from New York to D.C. and then back to New York.”

Twilight director Catherine Hardwick chatted with ShockTillYouDrop.com about the followup to the successful film, New Moon. Here’s a little bit of what she had to say:
Shock: Is there an element of the second book you’re especially intrigued or excited by, as far as bringing it to life on screen?
Hardwicke: New Moon’s really taking a whole other leap with this new story and there’s really a lot of new characters in it. There’s the werewolves which is pretty crazy. All the wolves. Then there’s also going to Italy in the second book and there’s motorcycle riding and cliff-jumping and diving. I love jumping off of cliffs. So it’s kind of up my alley – into water, yeah.
Twilight’s box office now stands at $125.4 million domestically and $21.3 million overseas for a worldwide cume of $146.7 million, an impressive tally for a film that cost just $37 million to make.

Underworld and Live Free or Die Hard director Len Wiseman has been tapped by DreamWorks to helm a big screen adaptation of the apocalyptic sci-fi comicbook Atlantis Rising.
Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci brought the project to DreamWorks back when the company was within the Paramount fold by and will produce, according to Variety.
Atlantis Rising is a five-part miniseries created by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg. The story kicks off when seismic disturbances at sea force world militaries to investigate the deepest part of the ocean, where an underground civilization emerges to engage in war with planet Earth.

USA Today has posted an article online discussing a special Harry Potter weekend that will kick off this evening on ABC Family. In addition to airing all four films (including the worldwide premiere of the extended edition–10 extra minutes–of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire), other footage related to the franchise will also be shown.
“There were scenes that got cut in the interest of keeping the length down that were really fun and good,” says producer David Heyman.
The deleted scenes include extended segments with Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) and his buddy Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) and their respective flirtations, as well as a scene with Mad Eye Moody (Brendan Gleeson) and Barty Crouch (Sam Hazeldine) following the underwater sequence of the Tri-Wizard Tournament.
Footage from the sixth film, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (July 17, 2009) will also be shown, including a look into the tortured past of Lord Voldemort/Tom Riddle–pictured above.
“It’s different than the other films,” says Heyman. “It’s not the non-stop action that some of the others are, although there is some action. It’s more of an emotional film. We follow multiple stories: Harry’s relationship with Ginny Weasley, Ron’s relationship with Lavender Brown. … There also is Hermione’s discomfort with Ron’s relationship with Lavender. There’s Draco Malfoy’s story. And then there’s Harry’s relationship with (Hogwarts headmaster and professor) Dumbledore. We’re following these multiple stories that enrich the canvas.”

Sigourney Weaver, who played Dana Barrett in Ghostbusters I & II, told MTV that she is well aware of the new Ghostbusters film that is under development and is “supposed to get in touch with Bill [Murray] next week.”
Weaver called Murray’s potential inolvment in the film “great” and added that she wasn’t sure there would be a place for her in the story, but it hopeful that at least one member of the Venkman family would get a spot: “I would hope that my little Oscar would be one of the Ghostbusters even if I’m not in it!”

Earlier in the week, a report surfaced on AICN that said 20th Century Fox was looking to make a third Speed movie, and that they wanted the original star, Keanu Reeves, to reprise his role as Jack Traven.
Now, Reeves has debunked the rumors, telling IGN “I honestly don’t know anything about it”, adding “I don’t know if they are going to make another one, and if they are it won’t be with me…honestly!”
Meanwhile in a separate interview with IGN, Reeves did say that he would be interested in revistiting the Bill & Ted’s franchise: “Well you know, never say never…Maybe we could do it with them both grown up — they haven’t saved the world and they’re just living their lives as middle-aged men. That sound’s quite funny.”
The Dark Knight Re-Release Set for January 23rd December 4, 2008 11:50 pm

Warner Bros. has announced that they will be re-releasing The Dark Knight nationwide on January 23rd, effectively guaranteeing that the film will become the fourth of all time to take in more than $1 billion in worldwide box office.
The Dark Knight‘s box office currently stands at $530.3 million domestically and $465.9 million internationally. The re-release will come just six weeks after the DVD and Blu-ray launch of The Dark Knight this Tuesday, December 9th.
Dan Fellman, president of Warner’s domestic distribution, made the announcement Thursday. “We wanted to provide one more opportunity for moviegoers to experience it on the bigscreen as it was meant to be seen,” he added.
The Dark Knight hits DVD/Blu-ray on December 9th. Preorder now on Amazon: $23.99 for the Blu-ray, $20.99 for the two-disc DVD, $14.99 for the single-disc DVD or $47.99 for the Limited Edition with Batpod for Blu-ray.

Will Smith told JoBlo that there will “definitely” be a sequel to his hit film Hancock, telling the site that there are still a lot of unexplored characters in the Hancock universe that would be a perfect fit for the sequel.
Twilight One of Many Summit Entertainment Films Headed to Showtime December 4, 2008 11:37 pm

Summit Entertainment and Showtime have inked a new deal that will see up to 42 of Summit’s theatrical titles, from 2008 to 2012, air on the premium cable network, including the recent hit Twilight.
“We’re excited that ‘Twilight’ is obviously going to be a huge franchise, and that there will probably be several more of those films coming as part of the deal,” said Showtime chairman and CEO Matthew Blank.
Since its release on November 21st, Twilight has grossed more than $120 million domestically.
The deal also includes 2009’s Knowing, directed by Alex Proyas and starring Nicolas Cage and Rose Byrne, as well as Push, starring Chris Evans, Dakota Fanning and Djimon Hounsou.

Superman Returns and Valkyrie (December 25, 2008) director Bryan Singer told UGO Movie Blog that he is NOT involved in any talks in regards to the new Superman film:
Jordan Hoffman (UGO): But there is talk of a new film, though. Are you officially involved in this talk of the new film?
Bryan Singer: I am not officially involved in the talk, no.
JH: But when talk happens they’ll call you.
BS: Well it’s, you know, I have relationships with Warner Brothers and with the character and, and, and, and it’s just the way things work out.
JH: But you are not divorced from Superman at this point.
BS: No.
JH: All right.

While at a press junket for his upcoming film The Spirit, writer-director Frank Miller revealed to IGN UK that Sin City 2 has been written and he’s ready to re-unite with Robert Rodriquez to begin filming:
“Sin City 2 is written,” he proclaimed. “It’s mainly a matter of working out the details of the production. I’m hoping to do it with Robert Rodriguez again in the same circumstances that we did the first one, and we could be shooting as soon as April.”
