The Tonight Show with Jay Leno has ceded its lead back to Late Show with David Letterman. CBS has renewed the hit reality series Undercover Boss for a second season/cycle to air during the 2010/2011 season. Although the renewal is early, it’s not the least bit surprising given just how impressive the series launched and how consistent it has been in the two episode since that premiere.

Scott Caan (“Entourage”, “Oceans Eleven”) has been cast as Danny “Danno” Williams in CBS’s pilot of Hawaii Five-O. Caan joins Daniel Dae Kim (“Lost”) who just last month was cast in the lead role as Detective Chin Ho Kelly.

William Shatner has been cast to play the dad in a comedy pilot at CBS based on the the Twitter account Shit My Dad Says (located at twitter.com/shitmydadsays).
It’s going to be tough translating the hilarious Twitter account to television, but signing Shatner to the title role is certainly a great step in that process.

Lost’s Daniel Dae Kim has been cast in a lead role on CBS’s Hawaii Five-O remake. Kim will play Detective Chin Ho Kelly, a role played by Kam Fong in the original series.
The part of Detective Steve McGarrett hasn’t been cast yet, but Alex O’Loughlin (Moonlight) is in talks for it.

CBS has given an early 6th season renewal to its hit Monday night comedy How I Met Your Mother.
The renewal comes shortly after the shows creators/executive producers Carter Bays and Craig Thomas inked a new contract with 20th Century Fox — the producing studio of the show — for three more years.

CBS has renewed both Survivor and The Amazing Race for additional seasons. Survivor has been given renewals for two more editions (its 21st and 22nd, respectively), while The Amazing Race has been renewed for a 17th edition. Head on over the jump for the press release.
