No more Jesse Stone movies at CBS

Variety is reporting that the eighth ‘Jesse Stone’ movie, Benefit of the Doubt, will be the final movie produced for CBS. The latest movie in the movie franchise which stars Tom Selleck, was well-rated with nearly 13 million total viewers — 12.93M —  but the audience skewed old with just a 1.2/3 A18-49 rating/share.

CBS renews Rules of Engagement for a seventh season; Will premiere midseason

CBS has announced that they’ve picked up the comedy series Rules of Engagement for a seventh season.

The network picked up 13 episodes and will air it midseason.

CBS announces 2012-2013 primetime schedule

CBS announced today its new 2012-2013 primetime schedule, ordering four new series and making four key time period moves to further enhance television’s top-rated schedule. CBS will finish the season as America’s most-watched network for the ninth time in the past 10 years, leading in viewers by the widest margin of any network in 23 years.

The new series include ELEMENTARY, a contemporary take on the legendary detective Sherlock Holmes in New York City, starring Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu; VEGAS, a drama inspired by a real-life sheriff and his battle with a powerful mobster for control of Las Vegas in the 1960s, starring Dennis Quaid and Michael Chiklis; MADE IN JERSEY, starring Janet Montgomery as a smart first-year lawyer with working-class roots practicing at a prestigious Manhattan law firm; and PARTNERS, a comedy about two very different life-long best friends and business partners and their significant others, starring David Krumholtz and Michael Urie.

CBS renews Two and a Half Men for 10th season

CBS announced today that Two and a Half Men has been renewed for the 2012-2013 broadcast season.

The renewal comes after new agreements were reached for next season with series producer Warner Bros. Television and cast members Ashton Kutcher, Jon Cryer and Angus T. Jones.

Nominations announced for The 66th Annual Tony Awards; Airing live Sunday, June 10 on CBS

Nominations in 26 competitive categories for THE 66th ANNUAL TONY AWARD S® were announced today by Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning actor Jim Parsons and Tony and Emmy Award-winning actress Kristin Chenoweth at the Tony Award Nominations Announcement. The nominees were selected by an independent committee of 22 theater professionals appointed by the Tony Awards Administration Committee. The 2012 Tony Awards are presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing. (The list of nominations follows.)

CBS renews Late Show and Late Late Show through 2014

CBS has reached agreements with David Letterman and Craig Ferguson for contract extensions to host their respective late night franchises – LATE SHOW and THE LATE LATE SHOW – through 2014, it was announced today by Nina Tassler, President, CBS Entertainment. Both series are produced by Worldwide Pants, Inc.

During the course of this agreement, Letterman, who premiered in late night in 1982, would become the longest-running late night talk show host in television history, surpassing the current record of 30 years by Johnny Carson.

Neil Patrick Harris returning to host The 66th Annual Tony Awards

Emmy Award-winning actor Neil Patrick Harris, star of the CBS comedy How I Met Your Mother, returns to host THE 66TH ANNUAL TONY® AWARDS, to be broadcast live from The Beacon Theater in New York, Sunday, June 10 (8:00-11:00 PM, live ET; delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network. This will be the third time that Harris has hosted the TONY Awards, previously serving as host for both THE 63RD ANNUAL TONY AWARDS in 2009 and THE 65TH ANNUAL TONY AWARDS in 2011. As he did in 2011, Harris will also act as a producer, along with executive producers Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss of White Cherry Entertainment.

2012 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship on TBS, CBS, TNT and truTv most-watched tournament in 18 years

CBS Sports and Turners Sports’ exclusive coverage of the 2012 NCAA® Division I Men’s Basketball Championship across TBS, CBS, TNT and truTV is the most-watched tournament in 18 years.

This year’s event is averaging a 5.3 U.S. HH rating through Saturday, up 4% compared with a 5.1 rating in 2011 and an increase of 15% over a 4.6 rating in 2010 (according to Nielsen Fast Nationals). The corresponding average of eight million viewers this year is +3% over last year’s 7.8 million viewers and +14% compared with seven million viewers in 2010.

CBS announces renewals for 18 primetime shows for the 2012-2013 season

In a move that renews a large portion of television’s #1 primetime lineup, CBS announced today it has picked up 18 returning series for the 2012-2013 broadcast season.

The renewals include four comedies, nine dramas, three reality series and two newsmagazines. The returning shows encompass every night of the week and every hour, many of which are #1 in their time period and some #1 on the entire night.
