Steve Bellamy, founder and former president of the Tennis Channel, is focusing his efforts on another sports-themed television network. Atonal Sports and Entertainment, his company, is preparing to launch the Ski Channel as early as the first quarter of 2008.

The Weinstein Co. has announced that the Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriquez double feature Grindhouse will be released in the U.K. as two separate movies.

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip is coming back from its hiatus. According the official NBC website for the series, the freshman drama will return to the airwaves on Thursday, May 24 at 10:00 p.m.

A fox spokesman has chimed in saying that though there have been talks about a sequel, discussion of Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny’s return is not certain: “It’s not anywhere near that level yet.”

Fox Pictures have announced a spin-off for the the popular X-Men film franchise, focused around Magneto.
The 20th Century Fox and Marvel Studios collaboration will be directed by David Goyer. Magneto is the second announced spin-off from the successful X-Men films, the other being Wolverine which will star Hugh Jackman. That film doesn’t yet have a director set.

Passions is being resurrected. The long-running soap was canceled by NBC earlier in the year, but today DirecTV announced that they will be picking up the show. The series will end its run on NBC on September 7, and then begin its ninth season on DirecTV on September 17. (more…)
