Donations on last nights Idol Gives Back two-hour American Idol special have topped $60 million.
The latest figure by FOX includes the $5 million donation by News Corp. (company said they would contribute $.10 for each vote up to 50 million) as well as from matching donations made by Allstate and ExxonMobil to the Save the Children and Malaria No More through the Charity Projects Entertainment fund, and also from corporate contributors the Bill & Melina Gates Foundation and ConAgra Foods.
An updated donation tally will be revelaed during next Tuesday’s show.
Because of the theme of Wednesday nights show, no one was voted off. Instead, the votes will rollover to next weeks show when two contestants will be eliminated.
Jon Bon Jovi is scheduled for the guest mentor for next weeks Idol.
