Tim Blake Nelson, who played Dr. Samuel Sterns in The Incredible Hulk, told Ain’t It Cool News that the plan is for his character to become the villain The Leader in a possible sequel:
Quint: Great well what about a potential HULK sequel? Gale Anne Hurd’s been going around talking about how you might be The Leader and the main villain of the next one.
Tim Blake Nelson: That’s the plan. That’s what they tell me, but I don’t know when that’s happening or what the details are but I am eager to do it and I hear that’s in the works. I would tell you if I knew more, but I honestly don’t.
Quint: Yeah, but you haven’t played a comic-book villain yet right?
Tim Blake Nelson: No, but I had a great time doing HULK, so if they want me for HULK 2 I’m there, it certainly was the plan going into HULK 1. When I met with them they said this is where it’s headed so I’m eager to do it.

IDW Publishing is teaming with Paramount Pictures, J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions, Kurtzman/Orci Productions and CBS Consumer Products to publish a four-issue comic book series tied to next summer’s Star Trek. The first comic in the series, Star Trek: Countdown #1, will be released in January 2009. The story is written by Mike Johnson (Superman/Batman) and Tim Jones, featuring art from David Messina (Star Trek: Mirror Images). Messina will also be providing the covers for the series. Check out a promotional image on the right hand side (click to enlarge).
“There was a lot of back and forth about doing this project, how to do it, what it would be about, but what all parties agreed on was that we needed the right story and that it needed to matter. It had to count both on its own merits and when read in conjunction with the new movie,” said series editor Andy Schmidt. “I couldn’t be happier with the project and what it means to the overall Star Trek franchise!”
“‘Star Trek: Countdown’ lays the groundwork for what happens in the movie,” said Roberto Orci. “It’s our way of passing the baton from the ‘Next Generation’ characters and their movies to the new film.”

Star Trek in IMAX? November 25, 2008 11:25 am
Posted by Rosario T. Calabria in IMAX, Movies, News, Star Trek.add a comment
FirstShowing.net is reporting that J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek will be released in IMAX theaters next year. The site reports that the film will be converted to 70mm for projection on IMAX screens, since Abrams didn’t use IMAX cameras to shoot the film. That means it’s just going to be a straight large-screen conversion, with no additional features. That contrasts with other high-profile IMAX releases including The Dark Knight, which had a few segments shot with IMAX cameras and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, which will have several minutes of bonus footage.
It’s going to be a crowded summer 2009 for IMAX. Here’s what’s currently in store for the large screen format:
- Star Trek (May 8, 2009)
- Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian (May 22, 2009)
- Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (June 26, 2009)
- Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (July 17, 2009)

Hulu’s HD section of its website will no longer be relegated to trailers. Beginning this week, the site will begin adding full length 720p high definition content in its HD Gallery. The move is part of Hulu’s “Hulu for The Holiday’s”, which is set to showcase new movies, TV shows and features every day until December 26th.
The first programs made available in HD are NBC shows, including the latest episodes of 30 Rock, The Office and Heroes. Joss Whedon’s web-feature Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog is also available to watch in high definition. So far, only 10 full-length shows are available, and Hulu is not setting a time table as to when they may roll out more.
“Ultimately, Hulu is committed to leveraging and developing innovative technologies that deliver the best possible online video viewing experience,” said a Hulu spokesperson. “To that end, the Hulu HD gallery is the first step in making HD quality videos available on Hulu.”

Avatar Concept Art [UPDATED] November 21, 2008 7:16 pm
Posted by Rosario T. Calabria in Avatar, Movies, Photos.2 comments
UPDATE: Turns out the photos weren’t legitimate concept art from Avatar and I’ve removed them from the site. The original artist left the following note in the comments below:
I’m Jonay Bacallado, the author of the images. They are part of my artwork, my personal artwork, and it has nothing to do with the actual concept art of the film. The interview has been removed from http://www.plansiete.com as well, I’ve spoken about his incident with responsibles of the program, because information it’s not accurate, and things can be misunderstood. Please, I have to ask you to remove this information, because the images shown are part of my own portfolio, no one has asked for authorisation, and of course, and most importantly, those designs have nothing to do with the real concepts and designs. I spoke during the interview about my experience, images were taken from my website, and they asume they are real concept art, but is not. The editing odf the video is quite confussing and may lead people to think it’s the real concept art done, but it’s not!!! Just to emphasise what I’m trying to explain mention that the design of characters have been done by another team, and we only get invlolved in costume, and as I said before, Avatar is far from this personal creation of mine included in my portfolio. This would get me into trouble, and without a reason, because this is NOT AVATAR CONCEPT ART. So please, people who follows Avatar news deserve to know that this concepts are FAKES, they are my creation, but have nothing to do with the work done in pre-production. Thank you, Jonay Bacallado.

It appears Summit Entertainment is in store for a very big opening weekend for Twilight, the vampire-themed film based on the best-selling book series by author Stephenie Miller. Current forecasts have pegged the film at making between $60 million to $65 million, a range that could be easily exceeded if the midnight gross is any indication.
Twilight is currently No. 3 on Fandango.com’s list of top advance ticket sales. Only Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and The Dark Knight sold more.

ABC has decided to order more episodes of Life on Mars, but has decided not to pick up Pushing Daisies, Dirty Sexy Money and Eli Stone.
The network hasn’t officially canceled the three shows, however, leaving open the possibility of ordering new episodes in the future, although that seems very unlikely. All three shows remain on the schedule for the time being.

Mars returns with new episodes January 28th at 10pm, airing after Lost (which premieres its new season the preceding week).
And finally, ABC has set a premiere date for Scrubs. The former NBC series that the network picked up after it was canceled will premiere Tuesday, January 6th at 9pm. with back-to-back episodes for two weeks, before settling into its regular time slot at 9:30pm.
