abclogo-513ABC has decided to order more episodes of Life on Mars, but has decided not to pick up Pushing Daisies, Dirty Sexy Money and Eli Stone.

The network hasn’t officially canceled the three shows, however, leaving open the possibility of ordering new episodes in the future, although that seems very unlikely. All three shows remain on the schedule for the time being.

Life on Mars, meanwhile, which received an order for four more hours, bringing its first year to a full 17 episodes, will be put go on hiatus starting December 11th, when Private Practice moves into its time period. Mars returns with new episodes January 28th at 10pm, airing after Lost (which premieres its new season the preceding week).

And finally, ABC has set a premiere date for Scrubs. The former NBC series that the network picked up after it was canceled will premiere Tuesday, January 6th at 9pm. with back-to-back episodes for two weeks, before settling into its regular time slot at 9:30pm.

abclogo-513When ABC announced a few days ago that Lost would be premiering on January 21st and in turn take the Wednesday at 9pm time slot beginning the following week, many wondered what that meant for former time slot occupant Private Practice.  Well, we now have an answer and in addition to Private Practice, the network will also be moving Life on Mars.  According to THR, ABC plans to move Private Practice to Thursday’s at 10pm and Life on Mars to Wednesday’s at 10pm.  It’s unclear at the moment if this is a permanent move, or just a temporary change.

ABC has renewed Boston Legal for a fifth season.  Series creator/executive producer David E. Kelley cut a deal with the network that will give the series another year. At the heart of the deal was Life on Mars, which ABC wants to greenlight, but Kelley owns the right to.  With the renewal of Boston Legal, a deal for Life on Mars appears imminent.  Two more episodes of Boston Legal are left to air this season (Wednesday: 10pm) and the fifth season is scheduled to kick off in the fall.
