New NBC drama Raines, which stars Jeff Goldblum as LAPD Detective Michael Raines is now set for a March debut.

Raines will first premiere on March 15 and the 22 (both Thursday night), before it moves to its regular day and time on Friday, March 30 (9:00 to 10:00 p.m. ET).

ABC and CBS have strong nights, as they tie among total households, but CBS comes atop among total viewers, while ABC takes the A18-49 crown. Grey’s Anatomy was the nights highest rated and most watched program.

Smallville and ‘Til Death also had solid nights (with Smallville’s numbers the more impressive of the two considering the network it’s on) passing the 5M mark, and Ugly Betty got a post-Golden Globe win bump. (more…)

American Idol nearly matches the ratings performance from the day before, ahead of last year’s first week numbers, to give Fox another huge ratings win last night. Fox drew more total households, viewers and adults 18-49 than the rest of the four networks combined.

Two new releases passed up last week’s top DVD (Jackass: Number Two – number three), The Covenant at number one and Snakes on a Plane at number two.Other

There was only one other new release in the top 20, the first season of the television show Martin, which was number 18.

Rounding out the top 10 were Pirates of the Caribbean at number four, The Devil Wears Prada at number five, Step Up at number six, Invincible at number seven, Barnyard at number eight, Little Miss Sunshine at number nine and Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby at number 10.

Among TV shows on DVD, Martin: Season 1 at number 18 was followed by Family Guy: Vol. 4 at number 19 and The Simpsons: Season 9 at number 20.

Content with the performance of its limited five day run in December, NBC has decided to return the NBC gameshow Identity for another run sometime in March of this year (an exact date and time have yet to be announced).

Today at the TCA, NBC entertainment president Kevin Reilly announced full-season (2007-08) orders for freshman drama Heroes and veterans My Name Is Earl, The Office and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

Though ratings have declined for recent installments of CBS’s veteran reality series Survivor, the network has decided to order two more seasons of the show.

The 15th and 16th editions of the series will run during the 2007-08 TV season.

There has been much discussion in recent weeks about the future of Battlestar Galactica. Though praise for the show has remained high among fans and critics alike, the show has struggled in the ratings, leading to speculation about whether or not it would return for a fourth season.

E! wins Golden Globes Red-Carpet coverage vs. TV Guide January 17, 2007 2:30 pm

E!’s Live From the Red Carpet special, which ran from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. ET averaged a 2.07 household rating,  beating the 0.7 household rating of rival TV Guide’s program, which featured Joan and Melissa Rivers.

Though the 0.7 rating is low, it is 17% above the performance of the program last year. E!’s coverage (headlined by Ryan Seacrest and Giuliana Depandi) was up as well.

The CW will be partnering with CBS Paramount Television to stream a never before aired episode of the sitcom Everybody Hates Chris on the Yahoo! TV for one week prior to its airing on TV.

The episode began streaming last night and will air on The CW Monday, January 22 at 8:00 p.m.

NBC’s coverage of the 64th Annual Golden Globe Awards propels the network to a first place finish for the evening. Day 2 of the Season Six premiere of 24 stays even from the day before, and was on par with how the show started off last season.

MGM release more information about officially greenlit “Stargate SG-1” films January 15, 2007 9:45 pm

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios announced today their plans for two movies for the Stargate franchise.

The first of the two films is titled Stargate: The Ark of Truth and it will deal with the current running Ori plot, while the second film, Stargate: Continuum, will bring new challenges to the SG-1 crew.

Stars Ben Browder, Amanda Tapping, Christopher Judge, Claudia Black, and Michael Shanks are all tapped toreprise their roles from the series in the films.

“‘Stargate SG-1’ is to MGM Television what the ‘James Bond,’ ‘Pink Panther,’ and the ‘Rocky’ franchises are to our feature film unit,” said Charles Cohen, senior executive VP of MGM. “We are committed to continuing to release new SG-I content and its “Stargate Atlantis” spin-off, and we’re also steadfast in our dedication to extending the franchise. ‘Stargate’ is an indelible brand for MGM and we will support it well into the future.”

With its NFL football coverage, CBS takes an easy Sunday night win. Desperate Housewives posts lower than average numbers, NBC’s realities dip significantly and Crossing Jordan gets off to a very slow start. 24 starts off very strong. (more…)
