It’s now confirmed. NBC has announced that David Gregory will take over hosting duties on Meet the Press, effective immediately. Gregory’s debut will take place this Sunday.
In Sunday’s edition, temp. host Tom Brokow passed the baton to Gregory, who will become the 10th permanent host of the show:
“This is an honor,” said Mr. Gregory. “You nurtured me in this business. Tim did. And I was in a unique place where I got to see two of the very best in journalism up close. I tried to learn a lot. I’ve thought a lot abut what it means to succeed somebody like Tim Russert. I’m not Tim, but along with this great team, I can just work real hard to make him proud.”
“Well, part of the deal is that you no longer can break up Washington parties by doing your drop-dead imitation of me,” Mr. Brokaw said.

Fables was created and written byBill Willingham in 2002 and eleven volumes were released. The series revolves around characters from fairy tales and folklore living in exile during modern-day New York.
“Their lives become interconnected in vary big way,” Zicherman said. “They share a secret and a bond.”
Zicherman and Metzner wouldn’t elaborate which fairy tale characters will be featured in the TV series, but noted that Big Bad Wolf and Snow White, who are central to the comics, will have a similar role on the show.
“We set up a structure to allow any fairy tale character to show up in any one episode,” Metzner said.

The CW has confirmed that they are looking at ways to spin off a new series from Gossip Girl for next season. CW entertainment president Dawn Ostroff told The Hollywood Reporter that the network is in discussions with the producers of the show to see how a new series could be done. Ostroff notes, however, that nothing has been finalized and they are still in the early stages:
“Nothing really tangible yet, but we’re talking about it,” Ostroff said after her speech at the WWD Style + Media conference in Manhattan. The network is in constant contact with executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, whom Ostroff praised.
“If it’s the right idea, we’d all embrace it and be enthusiastic,” Ostroff said. “But nobody more than Josh and Stephanie want to make sure there’s the right idea that they can wrap their arms around and really be excited about.”
In other CW news, Ostroff said that they still haven’t decided what would happen with the Sunday primetime block after the removal of the Media Rights Capital programming and that for the time being, the movies will continue to be on the schedule:
“We did better this past week than we did with the MRC programming,” Ostroff said. “We’re programming a movie. Obviously it’s only a week later, but we’re going to look at Sunday night.”
Jason Bateman Talks Arrested Development Movie December 4, 2008 7:44 pm

Jason Bateman, who played Michael Bluth on the short-lived, but critically acclaimed Fox comedy series Arrested Development, updated ComingSoon.net on the status of the proposed feature-length film version:
ComingSoon.net: Will it be a relief when you actually start filming the “Arrested Development” movie so that people will stop asking you about it?
Jason Bateman: I don’t mind talking about it! I’m as big a fan of it as they are. So I feel sort of fortunate that I’m able to give them information on it. I would want them to give me information on it if they had it. I can say that we’re looking better than ever. There are just a few more conversations to be had with some cast members to see if they want to be a part of it. Once we get the head count we’ll be able to go forward with it and hopefully start shooting in the summer.
CS: Is the story already on paper?
Bateman: I don’t think so. I know that Mitch has a couple of ideas, but he’s really waiting to nail it down until he knows exactly who’s going to be involved.
CS: Do you see having Michael Cera and your relationship in film as something crucial? I thought that was one of the more important parts of the show.
Bateman: Sure. It’s not obviously my decision to make. It’ll be Mitch’s, but there are so many different ways to go with it just based on it being an ensemble. I can’t wait to see what he cooks up.
