It’s official. Stephen Sommers has been tapped by Paramount to direct G.I. Joe. The studio has set a summer 2009 release for the live-action feature based on the Hasbro line of action figures.

FOX has placed the entire series premiere episode of their new drama K-Ville on the network’s official site(s). In addition, a clip of the first 17 minutes of Prison Break’s third season premiere has been made available online.

CBS has announced the premiere date for the Emmy Award winning gameshow The Price is Right. Hosted this season by Drew Carey, the 36th season will premiere on Monday, October 15 (11:00 a.m.-12:00 Noon, ET / 10:00-11:00 a.m., PT).

Well this is an interesting development from NBC. The network has revealed that are revisiting their American Gladiators remake competition show, and hoping to bring it on the air in time for the midseason.

In recent weeks, there has been an increase in news relating to Warner Bros. getting the Justice League America film off the ground. First were reports that the studio was more interested in completing the film before jumping into the Superman Returns sequel (rumored to be titled Superman: Man of Steel), then casting news revealing both Brandon Routh and Christian Bale had not been asked back to play their respective characters in the film. Well now comes a new rumor that the film will be CGI/motion-captured.

20th Century Fox has announced the title for the upcoming Alien Vs. Predator sequel. The film will be titled Alien Vs. Predator Requiem.

Apparently his hiring for hosting duties for Fox’s Super Bowl presentation wasn’t enough for Ryan Seacrest, as he’s also now been tapped to host the upcoming Emmy Awards.

Weekend Box Office — August 17-19, 2007 (Actuals)
Sony/Columbia’s Superbad opened as the weekends number one film with $33.05 million from 2,948 theaters. The comedy has already exceeded its production budget ($20 million), and is well on its way to profitability.
Rush Hour 3, as expected, took second place with $21.35 million from 3,778 theaters, off 56.5% from the week prior and pushing its domestic total to $87.68 million through 10 days of release.
Year-to-year the top 10 box office was up by 27.2%.

CBS is close to picking up the LL Cool-J starring drama series The Man, intending to premiere the show at midseason. Through sources, The Hollywood Reporter is relaying that the order would be for six episodes.
