Variety is reporting that Veronica Mars star Kristen Bell has been added to the cast of the hit NBC series Heroes.
The actress will play a pivotal role in a multi episode arc of the soon to begin sophomore season of the sci-fi series. Bell was recently rumored to be sought after for the ABC series Lost, but she apparently turned down the role because she wasn’t interested in moving to Hawaii where the series is shot.
All that is known about the part, she’ll play a character named Elle, is that she is described to be a “sexy, mysterious young lady who has ties to the supposed death of Peter, H.R.G’s past and the future of Claire.” The arc will begin with the character committing a serious crime, though it’s unclear whether the character is good or bad.
“This was not easy to pull off,” said “Heroes” creator-exec producer Tim Kring. “But since we’re an ensemble show, with many arcs playing out through the year, we found a way to jump into a small window in (Bell’s) schedule.
”Universal Media Studios prexy Katherine Pope also hinted that landing Bell wasn’t easy, noting that “many studios (were) chasing her in both film and TV” and that she was happy that Bell “chose to star in our show.”
Her first appearance will be in October.
Other future projects from Bell include films Fanboys and Forgetting Sarah Marshall (in which she plays the title character). She also will be supplying her voice as narrator in The CW’s new drama Gossip Girl and the 2008 animated Fox feature Sheepish.
