Columbia Pictures has finalized rights to The Green Hornet.  Neal Mortiz (Click, Gridiron Gang) will produce the feature adaptation under his Original Film banner.

The property has a long past, previously at Universal and Miramax.  Most recently in 2004, Kevin Smith tried his hand at developing it for Miramax.

Moritz, a self-professed fan of the product, says he hopes to get the project out to writers within the next few weeks.

It’s about time.
I remember when Kevin Smith was all hardcore about wanting to make it into a movie. Funny how quickly he forgot about it.
