Last year there was a rumor that Russell Brand (Forgetting Sarah Marshall) was in talks to play Captain Jack Sparrow’s (Johnny Depp) brother in the next Pirates of the Caribbean film. Brand was recently asked about the rumor by Access Hollywood and he said that “There’s been some talk of doing a ‘Pirates’ movie,” but that he has “eight other things to do” including Get Him To The Greek with Judd Apatow, so he doesn’t “know if there’ll be time to be a pirate.”
Get Him To The Greek is the upcoming Forgetting Sarah Marshall spinoff that will have Brand reprise his role as Aldous Snow.
Producer Jerry Bruckheimer is on record from last November saying that they are targeting a 2012 release for the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean.
