Former ESPN colleagues Dan Patrick and Keith Olbermann are reuniting.  NBC has announced that Patrick, who was a former ESPN anchor and radio personality, is joining Football Night in America this fall to co-host the program.  “I’m delighted to be reunited with my tag team partner,” Olbermann said, and in an homage to a favorite SportsCenter catchphrase, “I can’t stop Dan Patrick from working with me again, I can only hope to contain him.”

In other NFL-related TV news, James Brown, Phil Simms and Cris Collinsworth were named as cohosts of Inside the NFL, which is moving to showtime after a long run on HBO.

Bale Says No to Robin in Future Batman Films, Comic Writer Jeph Loeb Counters July 6, 2008 1:24 am

Christian Bale, star of the upcoming Batman Begins follow-up The Dark Knight does not want to see Robin showing up in any future Batman films he’s a part of.  He was quite emphatic in that stance, reportedly telling Starpulse “If Robin crops up in one of the new Batman films, I’ll be chaining myself up somewhere and refusing to go to work.”  Meanwhile, comic writer Jeph Loeb countered Bale, telling MTV that if time was taken to “tell the story properly”, it work work well:

“I wouldn’t let him become Robin until the third act, if that. I think that’s the other problem when you tell that story is that there’s this rush to put him in a costume by the end of the first 20 minutes and in that case I think it’s a disaster,” Loeb said. “So if you look at ‘Dark Victory’ Tim and I went nine out of twelve chapters before you even started to talk about putting him in a costume and he doesn’t put the costume on until the last chapter of that book.”

After a 10-year run at the Las Vegas Hilton, the interactive ride “Star Trek: The Experience” will be ending on September 1, 2008.  The ride included several actors from the various Star Trek TV series, and was designed in two parts: the Klingon Encounter and Borg Invasion 4-D (which was added in 2004).

Chad Boutte, Operations Manager and Director of Marketing, said the following in a press release: “Hailing frequencies open. We’d like to thank all the fans and friends of Star Trek, whose constant and amazing support we’ve enjoyed throughout our tenure at the Las Vegas Hilton. As we boldly go into the futures that await, know that we take your love of Star Trek: The Experience with us. We share the memories of time spent in the most unique place in the Galaxy, and we carry those memories into our futures with us. Live long, and prosper. Hailing frequencies closed.”

CBS also confirmed the news, though a spokesperson for CBS Consumer Products told TrekMovie.com they are still holding out hope for the future of the product:

We’re extremely proud of the 10-year run Star Trek The Experience had in Las Vegas. We’re currently exploring several options to continue The Experience for the public to enjoy for years to come.
