After a 10-year run at the Las Vegas Hilton, the interactive ride “Star Trek: The Experience” will be ending on September 1, 2008. The ride included several actors from the various Star Trek TV series, and was designed in two parts: the Klingon Encounter and Borg Invasion 4-D (which was added in 2004).
Chad Boutte, Operations Manager and Director of Marketing, said the following in a press release: “Hailing frequencies open. We’d like to thank all the fans and friends of Star Trek, whose constant and amazing support we’ve enjoyed throughout our tenure at the Las Vegas Hilton. As we boldly go into the futures that await, know that we take your love of Star Trek: The Experience with us. We share the memories of time spent in the most unique place in the Galaxy, and we carry those memories into our futures with us. Live long, and prosper. Hailing frequencies closed.”

We’re extremely proud of the 10-year run Star Trek The Experience had in Las Vegas. We’re currently exploring several options to continue The Experience for the public to enjoy for years to come.

“Criminal Minds” Spin-off in Discussion at CBS July 3, 2008 11:40 pm

Looks like CBS may drawing off their success with spinning off the multiple CSI’s, and looking to do the same with another of their procedural shows. Michael Ausiello (now with EW) is reporting that the network is looking into creating a Criminal Minds spin-off. The word comes from Executive Producer Ed Bernero, who told Ausiello that “substantive” talks are currently taking place between CBS and ABC studios, who produces Minds, saying “It’s safe to say there will be something soon. We had talked about it from the beginning, but something always got in the way of it happening… like Mandy [Patinkin] leaving and the strike. But it’s definitely gaining momentum now.”
Ausiello further reports that a consensus on what an alternate Criminal Minds would look like has not been reached, but Bernero says that they’re “looking at all of the things the FBI does and how we can work that into the Criminal Minds world.”
As with most spin-offs these days, the show would likely be launched via a “backdoor pilot” in an upcoming Criminal Minds episode.
So a Criminal Minds spin off. Good or bad? Chime in with your comments.
