goldenglobesslumdogmillionaire-011109Producer Christian Colson accepted the Darryl F. Zanuck Producer of the Year Award for Slumdog Millionaire, as the Mumbai-set drama bested fellow nominees The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Dark Knight, Frost/Nixon and Milk to take the top film honors last night at the PGA’s annual gala at the Hollywood Palladium.

“We are excited and delighted by the fact that our film continues to be embraced here in the U.S.,” Colson told the packed ballroom at the end of the two-hour ceremony. “Some could argue that this is the film that shouldn’t even have been made. There were no stars…. The budget was low, but not low enough. It was in Hindi. It was rated R. It wasn’t possible to pitch in 20 words or less.”

On the television side, AMC’s Mad Men and NBC’s 30 Rock earned wins in the drama and comedy categories, while HBO’s John Adams won in the longform category.

A complete list of all the winners follows after the jump. (more…)
