No new Battlestar Galactica until 2009 June 13, 2008 5:58 pm

Sorry BSG fans, but you’re going to have to wait a good six months before watching the final half of season four. Executive producer Ronald D. Moore spoke at a Wednesday night screening of the show’s summer finale (tonight at 10pm eastern on SCI FI) and revealed that the final half of the fourth and final season of BSG probably won’t air until early 2009. Moore says the reasoning behind the long wait is that they don’t want the show to face off against the new fall slate on the broadcast nets as well as the football and baseball seasons.
Kinda pointless if you ask me, especially considering the show is doing poorly in the ratings as is with little to no major competition. Additionally, season three aired from October 6, 2006 through March 25, 2007 yet when you compare the first seven weeks (8 episodes) of that run to the first seven weeks of the current season (7 episodes) season four is off by 13%. Note: ratings for episodes 8 and 9 are not yet available.
Season 3 Weeks 1-7: 1.5 average household coverage rating
Season 4 Weeks 1-7: 1.3 average household coverage rating

Ratings for the current day are based on fast nationals. (Expect all three scenarios to be the case at all times, unless otherwise noted). The final rating for first-run episodes that aired this evening will be reported the following week. So for example, the final rating for tonight’s episode of “NBA Finals Game 2: Los Angeles Lakers at Boston Celtics” will be reported in next weeks report for Sunday, June 15, 2008.

The fourth season finale of Lost powered ABC to comfortable win last night, but it wasn’t all good news, as the show was off by 1.66M viewers (12%) and 17% among adults 18-49 from last season’s finale.
Elsewhere on the evening, Fox held steady in second place with a strong showing from So You Think You Can Dance?, while week two of Last Comic Standing fared very poorly, off by 25% among viewers and adults 18-49, allowing CBS to sneak into third place with a slate of repeats.

With CBS out of the picture, it was time for ABC to shine courtesy the networks season finales of Ugly Betty and Grey’s Anatomy, which were both off from their year-ago season finales, but still strong enough to easily carry the evening.
Elsewhere on the evening, the season premiere of So You Think You Can Dance? put Fox in second place ahead of CBS which aired repeats and NBC which aired an episode of Deal or No Deal and the season premiere of Last Comic Standing.

Ratings for the final night of performances on American Idol were strong, with the series drawing just as many viewers from the year prior. Elsewhere on the evening, the season finale of Dancing With the Stars kept ABC in a competitive second place, while CBS was a close second place with two episodes of NCIS, including the season finale, and the season/series finale of Shark.
And lastly, The CW aired the season one finale of Reaper, which posted slight gains from the week prior.

Spider-Man 4 Script Turned in + Spidy 4 and 5 to be shot back-to-back? May 20, 2008 12:12 am

Apparently James Vanderbilt (Zodiac) has turned in a working draft of Spider-Man 4, but that’s not the big news. Cinematical has received a scoop that “his story arc has encompassed two films, making Spider-Man 5 shootable at the same time. The studio saw dollar signs and is in the process of reworking his deal to snatch up the story arc.” The site notes that nothing is expected to be announced anytime soon as both sides are still trying to negotiate a deal.
So what do you think? Shooting films back-to-back seems like all the rage these days, but is it the right move with Spider-Man, especially out of that weak third installment?

The two-hour season finale of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and two episodes, including the fourth season finale, of Desperate Housewives put ABC well ahead of the competition Sunday night, despite not being able to quite match last year’s finales. CBS saw okay results from its lineup of 60 Minutes and The 43rd Annual Academy of Country Music Awards, which drew more viewers and adults 18-49 from last year’s edition.
Fox followed up in third place led by the season finales of The Simpsons, King of the Hill and American Dad, though all three shows were off a good deal from their year-ago season finale numbers.
NBC was even from the week prior, while The CW rounded out the pack in last place, as the network aired its season finales of Everybody Hates Chris, Aliens in America and The Game.

CBS’s trio of finales (Ghost Whisperer, Moonlight, and Numb3rs) led the network to an easy Friday night victory, out-drawing its closest competitor ABC (who itself stayed afloat thanks to a finale of its own via America’s Funniest Home Videos) by nearly 2 million viewers and 23%.
Elsewhere on the evening, The CW got a rare reprieve from the bottom, as its WWE Smackdown pulled the network into third place among households and viewers (tied for third among adults 18-49).
