Paramount has announced the specs of its October 14th release of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The film will be released on both DVD (single and two-disc) and Blu-ray Hi-Def (two-disc only). This marks the first time an Indiana Jones film has been released on a high-def medium, and only the second Steven Spielberg-directed film. Check out the full details after the jump.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull has taken in an impressive $743.7M worldwide. To that end, talk of another installment is a given. George Lucas was asked if he, Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford would be up for a fifth film. Here’s what he told The Sunday Times:
“We were hoping for box-office figures like that, which is, ultimately, with inflation, what the others have done, within 10%,” Lucas explains. “So, we squeaked up there. Really, though, it was a challenge getting the story together and getting everybody to agree on it. Indiana Jones only becomes complicated when you have another two people saying ‘I want it this way’ and ‘I want it that way’, whereas, when I first did Jones, I just said, ‘We’ll do it this way’ — and that was much easier. But now I have to accommodate everybody, because they are all big, successful guys, too, so it’s a little hard on a practical level.
“If I can come up with another idea that they like, we’ll do another. Really, with the last one, Steven wasn’t that enthusiastic. I was trying to persuade him. But now Steve is more amenable to doing another one. Yet we still have the issues about the direction we’d like to take. I’m in the future; Steven’s in the past. He’s trying to drag it back to the way they were, I’m trying to push it to a whole different place. So, still we have a sort of tension. This recent one came out of that. It’s kind of a hybrid of our own two ideas, so we’ll see where we are able to take the next one.”

The fourth installment isn’t even in theaters yet, but George Lucas is already talking up a potential fifth installment in the Indiana Jones franchise. In an interview with FOXNews, the director revealed that he has an idea to make more Indy films, but with a twist, Mutt Williams (Shia LaBeouf) would be the lead character:
“I haven’t even told Steven or Harrison this,” Lucas told FOXNews. “But I have an idea to make Shia [LeBeouf] the lead character next time and have Harrison [Ford] come back like Sean Connery did in the last movie. I can see it working out.”
For his part, LaBeouf wasn’t against the idea as he expressed interest, though with some reservations, to MTV:
“I don’t think a Mutt spinoff would be as big as Indiana Jones,” LaBeouf told MTV. “[But] fingers crossed!”
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull hits theaters this Thursday. Reviews are starting to trickle in and, thankfully, they’re mostly positive (It’s sitting at 81% currently at RT). So who else is excited for Indy?

Paramount Pictures has released a new trailer for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. There’s not much difference between this trailer and the just released second trailer, but there are a couple interesting new additions including a shot of a plane flying over the Nazca lines from Peru (pictured on the right). The second trailer for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull has been released. Paramount sure did make us wait a while to see it, deciding to first release a TV spot, but I think it was well worth the wait. Check it out after the jump. You may have heard a rumor reported a few days ago that indicated ‘Indy 4’ would be 2 hours and 20 minutes, but that report appears to have been wrong. Producer Frank Marshall has confirmed that film will be about 2 hours. In other Indy news, several new photos have hit the web, and we’ve got an early very positive review of the film.

USA Today has a new article up focusing on Harrison Ford, star of the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. One thing that stands out from the article is Ford’s comment that he is considering doing a fifth installment in the franchise. There’s also some news on the possible length of the film.
