Screenwriter Robert Mark Kamen tells the LA Times that he’s working on a sequel to the hit action film Taken as well as an American version of District 13, based on a popular 2004 thriller produced by Besson:
“I get to work with the world’s greatest filmmaker without ever worrying about being replaced,” he says with an exuberance you rarely hear in a screenwriter’s voice. “I feel like I died and went to writer’s heaven, which is a place where you don’t get rewritten and you can always get a three-star meal. It doesn’t get any better than that.”
This is awesome news. Taken was great fun and featured a terrific performance from Liam Neeson. The film has done incredibly well at the box office (it was #3 this weekend even after five weeks of release) and has grossed $119.6 million domestically and is nearing $200M worldwide ($192.7M).
