FOX finished in a tie first place for the evening with a 9.2/15 household rating/share and was alone in first among both viewers (15.94 million) and adults 18-49 (6.1/16 rating/share).

  • 8:00 p.m.: American Idol: Judge’s Wild Card Round (12.2/19 HH rating/share, 21.24M viewers, 7.5/20 A18-49 rating/share).

Week-to-week numbers:

Households – 11.9/19 to 12.2/19 (+2.5%)
Viewers – 20.89M to 21.24M (+2%/+0.35M)
Adults 18-49 – 7.1/19 to 7.5/20 (+6%)

Day-to-day numbers (WED; 3/4/2009):

Households – 13.1/21 to 12.2/19 (-7%)
Viewers – 22.78M to 21.24M (-7%/-1.54M)
Adults 18-49 – 7.8/22 to 7.5/20 (-4%)

  • 9:00 (9:05) p.m.: Hell’s Kitchen (6.2/10 HH rating/share, 10.64M viewers, 4.6/12 A18-49 rating/share). Note: With the surprise announcement of a 13th contender, ‘Idol’ bled a few minutes into the 9:00pm time period.  Because of that, Idol’s numbers may increase some at the expense of Hell’s Kitchen. Update: And that’s exactly what happened.  Hell’s Kitchen began airing at 9:05pm decreased to a 5.7/9 HH rating/share, 9.71M viewers and a 4.4/11 A18-49 rating/share, while ‘Idol’ increased to a 12.2/19 HH rating/share,  21.50M viewers and a 7.6/21 A18-49 rating/share.  Hell’s Kitchen was hurt more (so the percentage changes from the week prior were actually: +2%, -1% and +2%).

Households – 5.6/9 to 6.2/10 (+11%)
Viewers – 9.85M to 10.64M (+8%/+0.79M)
Adults 18-49 – 4.3/11 to 4.6/12 (+7%)

CBS followed in a tie for first place for the evening with a 9.2/15 household rating/share, but was second among both viewers (14.98 million) and adults 18-49 (4.0/11 rating/share).
