20th Century Fox has released a new five-minute extended trailer for their remake of The Day The Earth Stood Still. Watch it embedded below.
Synopsis
Keanu Reeves tops this adaptation of the seminal 1951 sci-fi film The Day the Earth Stood Still with this 20th Century Fox production. Scott Derrickson (The Exorcism of Emily Rose) helms the story of an alien traveler, Klaatu (Reeves), who heads to Earth along with his bodyguard robot, Gort, to deliver a warning of planetary destruction if the people of the world fail to bring peace to their civilizations. Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, and Kathy Bates co-star in the Ryne Douglas Pearson-penned film.
The Day the Earth Stood Still hits theaters on December 12, 2008.

I never saw the original, but I did see the remake and I could watch this film over again and maybe own it when it comes out on DVD. I felt it was one of the better SCi-Fi films this year.
I Hyped Day the earth stood still on Everhype and gave it 87% which I think is fairly accurate.
