It took a long time, but we finally have the title for the upcoming X-Files sequel. Series creator and director Chris Carter told the AP that 20th Century Fox has approved the title of the film. The sequel will be titled The X-Files: I Want to Believe. Highlights from the AP article follow after the jump. The X-Files: I Want to Believe hits theaters on July 25, 2008.
In a telephone interview Thursday during a break from editing, Carter said the following:
“It’s a natural title. “It’s a story that involves the difficulties in mediating faith and science. `I Want to Believe.’ It really does suggest Mulder’s struggle with his faith.”
For those unfamiliar with the franchise, I Want to Believe references the Fox TV show, as the slogan comes from a poster hanging in the basement of Mulder’s (David Duchovny) office, where he and Scully (Gillian Anderson) worked.
