The return of American Idol was huge as expected, but the show was actually down a bit from last season’s premiere.

None the less, because of the show, Fox outdrew the combined viewer and A18-49 total of the remaining four networks.

Fox finished in first place for the evening with a 17.8/26 household rating/share, 33.24 million viewers and a 13.8/32 rating/share among adults 18-49.
