Ion Picks up “The Drew Carey Show” November 28, 2007 2:02 am

The broadcast network Ion Television has acquired the television rights to The Drew Carey Show.

The sitcom will launch on the network with a New Year’s Eve marathon from 7:00-11:00 p.m. ET.  It will then air in primetime Monday through Thursday at 9:00 and 9:30 starting January 1, 2008.

Ion Media Networks CEO Brandon Burgess said that the show “advances our plan to broaden our network’s appeal by targeting a contemporary audience with timeless humor and entertainment”.

The Drew Carey Show ran for nine seasons on ABC from 1995 to 2004.
