FX Renews “Rescue Me” For Expanded Fifth Season November 1, 2007 6:28 pm

FX is renewing its hit drama series Rescue Me for a fifth season, and giving the show an expanded 22-episode order, well above episode orders from previous seasons (13 episodes).
Production on the show’s fifth season is expected to begin in early 2008, pending a WGA strike, and the season will be split across two separate cycles.
Producers Dennis Leary, Peter Tolan and Mim Serpico will all return as executive producers/showrunners of the series and all cast regulars are expected to return as well (acting alongside Leary are Michael Lombardi, Tatum O’Neal, Steven Pasquale, Andrea Roth, John Scurti, Daniel Sunjata and Callie Thorne.)

” ‘Rescue Me’ has always been the product of the unique vision and talents of Denis Leary, Peter Tolan and Jim Serpico, along with one of the best acting ensembles on television,” Landgraf said. “The show has been a great source of pride to FX and remains one of the cornerstones of our respected brand of original series.”
“To have all three original producers back for Season 5 is key; their vision and execution are what make this show a success,” SPT co-president Jamie Erlicht said.
Added SPT co-president Zack Van Amburg: “There is no better way to come back to a fifth season than with an expanded 22-episode order.”
Rescue Me‘s fourth season premiere this past June attracted an audience of 2.79 million viewers (1.9/3 HH rating/share, 1.4/4 A18-49 rating/share).

Ugh..I LOVE rescue me! It’s agony waiting every year for the new season to start…it seems like there is always a delay in it’s airing, what’s going on? It’s also almost impossible to get a straight answer on when it will start. However, I have your answer..Season 5 Rescue Me premiers on 6/13 Wed, at 10:00pm on FX. Found that online , just hope it is still on schedule!
That was 2007 (6/12 on a Wed). I read it’s postponed until March ’09!!!!!
Postponed until March 09??? GREAT! I was looking forward to finally something good on the TV this summer.
season number 5? When will it start? I can say no more.
They’re going to lose fans if they wait an entire year for season 5 to start, like my husband!

I thought that, too, but it was another minisode, wasn’t it? I have it Tivo’d so I haven’t seen it yet, but a friend said the June 24th episode was a minisode.
The actual FULL LEGNTH fifth season will not be aired until April of 2009. These “minisodes” are just a way for FX to keep fans interested until next spring. JOKE!

Ok so you still have not answered the question of “When excatly does the 5th season of Rescue Me actually start? We are going nuts just waiting for it. We keep thinking we have missed it. Please just a date!
2009? WTF! It sucks as bad as if just before your flight to Hawaii begins to board they cancel your flight. How will they handle any time sensative issues such as the election?
Rescue me tears all the other shows on TV apart. Sunny in Phili? Seriously? Come of FX, your killing people here. I just rewatched season 3 and am back to calling everyone assholes.
Denis Leary was on Oprah a few weeks back and I held my breath waiting for him to announce the season 5 date. He NEVER even talked about the show, he was there promoting his new book, Why We Suck. I was so disappointed! I do agree they might lose a fan base, I’m almost to the point that I don’t care when it starts. After the minisodes they said watch for the new season early 09…it’s early 09 and I’m not seeing or hearing a thing. What’s up with that??
