The BBC America premiere of Torchwood on Saturday night delivered for the network the biggest audience of any drama premiere in the history of the network.
Available in 58 million households, the science-fiction series, which is a spin-off from Russell T. Davies’s hit Doctor Who (which airs in the US on SCI FI) attracted 496,000 total viewers, with 297,000 of those viewers within the networks target demographic of adults 25-54.
It beats the premiere of Robin Hood (also a BBC import), though both shows achieved the same rating (0.42). Torchwood attracted slightly more viewers because BBC America is in more homes now than it was when Robin Hood premiered.
