Another month, another domination of the sales charts by Nintendo in the US. The companies two videogame systems (the Nintendo Wii and the Nintendo DS) were the top 2 systems for the month of July in the US, with combined sales at 830,000.

This is the ninth straight month in which the Wii and DS have held the top two spots on the hardware sales chart. It’s the first time the Wii (425,000) has outsold the DS (405,000) since its launch.

Even more impressive is that the data, released by The NPD Group, shows that both Nintendo systems managed to outsell the combined figures for the PlayStation 2 (#3–222,000), PSP (#4–214,000), Xbox 360 (#5–170,000) and the PlayStation 3 (#6-159,000).

Another thing worth noting in the data is the race between the Xbox 360 and the PS3. Analysts had expected the PS3 to pull ahead of the Xbox 360 in July due to the $100 price cut/clearance and the continued warranty issues with the 360, but the 360 was still ahead. The price cut wasn’t ineffective though, as sales for the system jumped up by 60.4%.

The Game Boy Advance continues to do well, selling 87,000 units (#7) in the month.
