The Half Hour News Hour, the right-leaning Fox News take on the satire format made popular by Comedy Central shows like The Daily Show With Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report, has been canceled.

The series, co-created by Joel Surnow and Manny Coto (both producers of Fox’s 24) aired 15 episodes, and debuted to solid numbers (1.4 million), but wasn’t able to build from that strong premiere.

FNC programming chief Bill Shine did leave the possibility of the show returning in some form, in a memo to the staff he wrote the following:  “We are considering ways to retool the show for future scheduling needs,” he said. “There is still a chance you will see the program at some point in the future.”
