Paul Blackthorne (Harry Dresden of The Dresden Files) has signed on to ABC’s upcoming drama Big Shots. If the signing of The Dresden Files‘ title character to another series wasn’t proof enough that The Dresden Files would be a one season and done show, SCI FI has confirmed that the show will not be returning for a second season.
The Dresden Files premiered on Sunday, January 21, 2007 on SCI FI to the tune of 1.73 million viewers (a 1.1/2 household rating and a 0.7/1 rating among adults 18-49), only a so-so debut for a new television series. The show improved in its second week, but began to fizzle slowly downward as the remaining episodes aired.
A complete 12 episode DVD set will be released on Tuesday, August 7, 2007.

shame its ending as was a good show but at least it was given a shot and could have just ended up as apilot episode yet it made a whole (short) season
Are you old enough to remember that the first potential manager of the Beatles turned them down as didn’t have a hope in hell chance of succeeding…………………………..?
Epstein took that chance…………
Who will take the chance and take over with Dresden where Sci Fi left off and do another series………………………………?
Some people have no patience – too bad it came together so perfectly for people who did stick around; the others don’t know what they missed. I personally filled out a form for Nielsen praising the show – that didn’t even seem to help. This is the second time I have felt that a show was canceled too early. The first was the original Star Trek. Enough said.
Yes, Yes, Please somebody with some backbone take a chance with Dresden Files. The show never really had the advertising that it deserved. I came into the show late and only by accident. I think the show was great and could only get better with each season if only givin the chance. With great books to follow how could they not even try one more season. Why? Why? Why?
