First Look at Batman’s New Suit June 16, 2007 1:49 am

Entertainment Weekly (the magazine and website) has the first look at the new bat suit which will be featured in next year’s Batman Begins follow-up, The Dark Knight.

Here’s a brief segment on what’s changed on the suit:

HEAD GAMES Ever wonder why movie Batmans rarely turn their horned heads? It’s because the cowls of past suits were firmly attached to the neck and shoulders of the costume — necessary to maintain that iconic silhouette and to prevent the actor from moving around inside the mask. The new headpiece — modeled after a motorcycle helmet — is separate from the neck, so star Christian Bale can now swivel his noggin side to side, or nod up and down. ”It was the hardest part of the suit to make,” says Hemming.

God that looks awful. That’s nearly the suit they used during the Schumacher years. Haven’t they learned anything from past mistakes?

I guess at least it doesn’t have nipples. But really, did it need changing at all? I understand the cowl issue but everything else could have been kept the same.

There’s also a nice site that’s showing off the new Joker car, which is quite interesting:

Yeah, I noticed that yesterday. But it really hasn’t been confirmed to be the real Joker car, so I laid off posting about it.

I like the look of the suit.

The site has confirmed that it’s a fake now, which is a shame because I thought it was pretty good.
