This past Monday, casting got underway for Indiana Jones and the City of the Gods (working title) in New Haven, Connecticut, one of the many locations where filming will take place.
According to reports on the scene, extras were asked if they “could play football, if they owned a dog, and if they would be willing to get a 1950s-style haircut.” Filming in New Haven will run from June 28 to July 7. The town will be used as a backdrop for a chase scene involving Indy riding his motorcycle with black sedans in hot pursuit.
Additionally, The Deming Headlight newspaper reports that an area near the Deming Municpal Airport in Deming, New Mexico will be used as a stand-in for Morocco in the film. The newspaper also stated that filming will begin there before the New Haven shoot.
IGN adds, via a report on Slashfilm.com, that recently cast actor John Hurt–potential spoilers ahead—could be portraying scientist Albert Einstein. IGN speculates that since Einstein died in 1955 and the film supposedly takes place in 1957 that: “Maybe he didn’t die after all and that’s part of the story?”
Indiana Jones and the City of the Gods hits theaters on May 22, 2008
