“Transformers” To Make Its Debut in Italy May 29, 2007 1:49 pm

The upcoming, and highly anticipated, Michael Bay film Transformers will be making its world debut during the Taormina Film Fest in Italy on June 21.
This will be the first time in the festival’s 53 year history that a a major U.S. film has premiered at the event.
Paramount will be sending over Bay, along with several cast members and executives from the studio, arriving by helicopter, during an elaborate ceremony before the screening.
“We think the decision to premiere ‘Transformers’ in Taormina shows a renewed interest in the festival, and it illustrates the strong ties between this Mediterranean festival and American cinema,” said Deborah Young, the events artistic director, said in an interview.
The festival, held in the city of Taormina on the Italian island of Sicily, will run from June 16-22.
Transformers hits stateside on July 4.
