With their upfront presentation just two days away, The CW has given renewals to six of its shows; three dramas, two comedies and one reality competition.

The new network renewed comedies America’s Next Top Model, The Game and Girlfriends (next season will likely be its last) and dramas One Tree Hill (5th season), Smallville (7th season) and Supernatural (3rd season).

Beauty and the Geek, WWE Smackdown and Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll are likely to make returns. The later depends on working on the structure.

On the cancellation side of things, the network canceled comedy All of Us. The Will Smith produced comedy went for three seasons.

The fate of Veronica Mars is still undecided, but reports are indicating the struggling series (which airs its season finale next Tuesday–two episodes from 8-10:00 p.m.) will not be renewed due to its low ratings. The CW brass was apparently very excited in a re-worked version of the show presented to them by show-runner Rob Thomas, but the low ratings have made the renewal a tough sell.

Update: Veronica Mars has been canceled. Read about it here and here.

Man, I find it hard to believe that it survived this process twice before, yet alone that it was even considered this time around. Here’s hoping the next month is spent finding a project within the CBS family for Kristen Bell to appear in. She and Rob Thomas are quite a pair, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see both of them called onto new shows this fall to rescue them from development hell. They’re the next Greg Berlanti/Emily Vancamp, I figure.

Yeah, while I’m saddened by the cancellation of the show, I’m comforted by the fact that we got three great years and 50+ episodes.

I’m guessing the hesitation by The CW to announced the official cancellation has a lot to do with trying to keep those two at the network for future series.

It sure does appear that way at least.

I’m truly dissapointed to hear that VM might be cancelled. This was one of the shows I was looking forward to next season seeing as we won’t have any more Gilmore Girls (My favorite show of all times.).
I hope they ultimately decide to keep it on.

Although, I’ve gotta say that it’s nice that they’re keeping Supernatural. Don’t know what I would have done if they’d cancelled that one too. If they had The CW would have been dead to me.

Definitely happy on the renewal of Supernatural. This has been a very good season. The season finale should be great tonight.

I’m still reeling from the end of Gilmore Girls…

But i’m SOOO excited for Supernatural next year, the finale was awesome tonight! Though I never saw VM, to its fans, i am genuinely sorry. When they cancelled Everwood with no real chance to end it, I was a little heartbroken.
