The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has announced that The Golden Globe Awards will be moving back to Sunday night next year after two years on Mondays.
The move to Monday was triggered after a weak airing (16.84M) on Sunday night against an episode of Desperate Housewives in 2005. That was down by more than 10M viewers from the previous year (26.80M).
Because of that dramatic drop (which was credited due to airing against Desperate Housewives–24.09M viewers that night), the program was moved to Monday night the following year, where it ticked up some to 18.77M viewers. Last year’s telecast also grew, bouncing up to 20.04M viewers.
The 2008 Golden Globes will be aired on Sunday, January 13.
