BBC has announced that they are renewing their hit Doctor Who series for a fourth season.

“Series four is officially existing,” executive producer Russell T. Davies said. “I’m very excited, but we have known for ages.”  Davies has only now been able to comment.

Season three begins airing in the U.K. on March 31 with stars David Tennant as the Doctor and Freema Agyeman as his new companion.

The fourth season of the hit British series is set to air in 2008.  There have been rumors of late that Tennant was leaving the show, and Davies did not say whether the actor would return for that fourth season.
