USA has picked up the rights to air the film Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.
Paying $11M for the rights, the network hopes that the investment will help them attract a younger demographic.
The first available airing of the movie will be in April 2009. And USA has already temporarily planned a three night event for the movie, airing it from Friday to Sunday that month.
Additionally, the network is discussing plans to have Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat) introduce the movie on air. They are also exploring the purchase of episodes of Da Ali G Show (which stars Cohen as a different fictional character).
‘Borat’ grossed $128.49M domestically and an additional $125.72M overseas ($254.21M total). This deal does not proclude Fox from seeking another deal with a different cable network.
